Despite the warmth we've become used to, this upcoming stretch is really impressive. First week of January with days and days of 50+ highs and some lows not even dropping below 40...that's insane. It's not like this past week where we had a temp spike but then it crashed the next day.

It's 3° here. Didn't expect that.

We still have two solid months of winter, and who knows what March can bring. I think the expectations for December are always too high. It just isn't an ideal month for snow like it used to be. So far I have about 3 inches for the month, all of which has been washed away.

12/15 - 12/16 Coastal/Winter Storm & Observations

Hanging around 34° currently. I was impressed at the onset how heavy the snow came in. It coated everything very quickly including the roads that had salt residue from the last storm. Been rain ever since though, heavy at times. I'd say we got maybe 1.5" before the changeover. -
Might be first teens tonight. 28 currently. This stretch through Thanksgiving looks great.
-
Started out as some wet flakes and sleet, but changed over to plain rain pretty quick. About .60" here and 37 currently.
-
1.5" here so far. Not bad at all. Had some bursts of heavy downpours throughout the day.
-
Next week could easily pass for the first week of October, which ironically was way chillier.

About .25" here too. The warmup starting on Saturday looks like it is worth watching.

Looks like a quick cooldown and then it warms up again later in the week.

Actually was able to hit the 1" mark here. Around 9pm we had some pretty solid downpours on and off with some wind as well. Front will clear and make way for a great Friday/Saturday.

Tomorrow through Sunday, with the exception of Thursday's pm rain, look pretty great for mid-October. The foliage this year is noticeably earlier than last, with a lot of vibrant colors. I think these warm sunny days and cool nights have helped. Last year was so exceptionally AN that it was into November where things started turning.

Between the 2" on Tuesday and 1" in change today, that makes for a pretty solid 3" event. I think it's even more impressive that tomorrow will be a week since I've seen sunshine. Grass looking great though for this time of year, just needs a rake/cut.

Just over 2" here since midnight. We'll see what tomorrow brings in addition.

But this time of year "nice" weather is neither hot nor humid. Anyone who would take this weather over 70° and sunny has to be lying lol. Next week looks great after a slightly cooler weekend.

Maybe the 90° temps are through, but we don't need that kind of heat to see AN weather anymore. As we head into fall next week even low 80's are enough for +10 days.

If by that you mean a continuation of summer and possibly record heat, then yes, it's coming.

Haven't you been saying this since like June 20th?

Yeah I mean naturally as we head into September there is going to be less 90's. But regardless this last stretch of August will rack up some more. Nonethless, I think we will extend summer into fall like we've been doing.
-
Eh, been seeing people post about less daylight since the day after the solstice, and that it won't be long etc... Decreasing average temps just mean that the 90's we get are racking up bigger +departures.

possible first significant rain in months for some 8/21-23
JerseyWx replied to forkyfork's topic in New York City Metro
Little bit under 1.5" here. Had some very heavy downpours but I guess it wasn't long enough to really add up. Not bad though considering the 2.5" on Saturday. That's a 4" dent into the drought. -
Haven't seen it rain that hard for that long in awhile. Four stations in town are between 2.0"-2.5" which is pretty surprising. I'll gladly take it though.

Definitely yeah, this is one of several very heavy convection events we've had. It's been an absolute deluge for the last half hour or so.
