Can you show me which stations in our sub-forum that is true for? This has not been an extremely hot summer, those surges of heat we had were short lived. This was a typical summer for the metro that featured warm and humid days and a stormy pattern starting after the 4th. It's interesting because if we had the inverse of this summer pattern happen in the winter (some extremely cold days mixed in with mostly average/warmer ones), you wouldn't have people going around saying that it's an icebox record cold winter.

Just about 2 inches here. Weekend is looking a lot drier so that's a plus.

1.2" here so far. Had brutal downpours on 287 coming home. Lots of runoff and you could see the storm drains were taxed.

Yeah even today had more clouds than I thought it would. Just been a meh weather month, and this weekend doesn't look to change that. Our area is fine with rain and the reservoirs are good. Abnormally dry doesn't mean a drought.

You've had relentless heatwaves by you? I haven't had a heateave since the one around 4th of July. Yesterday just missed 90 here and tomorrow is iffy, so technically no heatwave again. If you look at previous summers, even just since 2015, we've had far worse heat and humidity. This wasn't bad at all. I'd actually argue we had very little extended heat this summer. When we got a warm surge it packed a punch but then didn't stick around.

Most of the metro is abnormally dry, not in a drought. Long Island is a little worse off, as is Southern NJ. We're doing fine.

Heavy thunder and lightning before midnight kept me up. Also got another 1.5"+ overnight. Crazy how we just keep getting storms on top of storms here.

Yeah now my forecast only shows Thursday and Friday, and those are storm chances so who knows. I'll take it though. I can do without heavy rain and wind damage for the rest of the summer.

Haven't added water to the pool once this year, can't remember when the last time that was. Heavy pockets of rain pushing me closer to 3.5" now.

Pushing 3 inches here, got soaked overnight. I hope the storm chances this week flop, at least up this way. Had more than enough rain the past few weeks.

Definitely a good soaker here. Sitting at about 3 inches. Some areas got twice that, which is pretty crazy. Had solid downpours about an hour ago. Haven't had to add water to the pool once this year, and in fact I've had to drain it several times, tomorrow included.

Yeah I agree, although I think part of it is just adapting to the cold by then. Think of Novemeber when we first dip into the low 30's at night how cold that feels. Yet by February a high in the 30's would be nothing.

August to me is like February in the sense that you're still in the thick of the cold/heat even though averages technically start lowering as we get into August.

Right, my point is that when the heat shows up it hits hard, but it otherwise has been bearable. After the heat broke on July 5th, I've only had 2 days that were 90+ and 2 days with a low of 70+.

Honestly, I really don't think this summer has been that bad. Yes I know I'm biased because this is my season, but when the heat hits we seem to get some relief after (today and tomorrow for example). It's really been up and down. We had a couple summers awhile back where the dewpoints were consistently high and just lingered throughout most of the season. Someone could probably confirm, but I know at least one was pre-covid.

Just about a half inch here. I'm glad we didn't have widespread wind and tornado activity so far, and I hope it stays that way through tonight. No one needs that after the damage we already had around the 4th. Went to attend a birthday party just over the border in New Hope, PA. Heading down 287 got hit with some mega rates, people started pulling over. Also while there a few solid downpours came through, I imagine the totals down there had to be near 2 inches. Looked like a creek in the parking lot.

Just had insane downpours in the Parisappny area for like 15 minutes.

Have had several periods of that soaking type rain that feels tropical in nature throughout the day. Up to 1.5" now. Far below some other areas, but you can already see the life coming back to the vegetation and grass. This type of event is better for doing that than those brief torrential downpours from a cell.

If we avoid storms today, especially with the forecasted deluge in a couple days, it's really not going to be a big deal.

That's chilly, even when it's hot like this. Pool is 84 and basically feels lukewarm.

They must not be sized right maybe? We have a small house, but upstairs is 105 right now because it's not air conditioned. Downstairs however stays around 76 with just one unit running. Heat rises so it shouldn't matter as much.

Yep, kind of sucks with the timing. Already have over 3 inches this week, so was hoping today would be dry. Radar looks robust.

Got drenched here last night, about 1.5" or so. Definitely filled the pool up and won't need to add water. I'm okay if tomorrow misses up here.

Got hit pretty good last night with soaking rain. I had about .50" yesterday, and just over an inch since midnight. I'm happy with that.
