  1. It’s SO bad. I’ve been following local sources for days to do what I can to get good info to my father -in-law - and it is truly tragic . I will type longer at some point about exactly why it is so bad - but , yeah, bad.
  2. Ravens will slaughter my bengals next Sunday. Congrats in advance. Bengals have one of the worst run defenses I’ve ever seen. That’s probably…bad given what the ravens are about.
  3. If you all want a really good detailed read on the western North Carolina impacts and meteorological setup as it unfolded - https://climate.ncsu.edu/blog/2024/09/rapid-reaction-historic-flooding-follows-helene-in-western-nc/
  4. I mentioned I think in this thread my father-in-law lives in Brevard, NC (south of Asheville - we heard from him last night - he’s safe - he was lucky to find one tiny area that got a little signal to get a call out.) He really has no idea how bad it is areawide - he’s mostly trapped behind fallen trees on the roads around him and one smaller one on his house but he’s ok. the pics from that whole area up to the TN /NC border are horrifying- I’ve vacationed and visited that whole area for decades. In some cases whole towns are gone.
  5. 0s magic number is 1, right? They just need 1 win (or, I guess a Tigers loss, but, yeah given they are playing the White Sox...) - in any event a win and they secure home field for the 3-game wild card series?
  6. So…20-30 inches of rain forecast for Brevard, NC - where my father-in-law is. Beyond catastrophic for them. They have elevation. There will be landslides along with unreal flooding.
  7. Been a LONG time since we've had this kind of reverse bust with precip. Nice to have.
  8. Good luck as always, and, as always, if undecided please play it safe. Really hadn't paid much attention to this but just now scanning the entire set-up and belatedly realized western NC getting some sort of predecessor rain event and then looks to get the in-land tropical storm - my father-in-law is retired in Brevard, NC and their local forecast seems to be for 10-15 inches of rain starting late this afternoon through Friday and some model runs apparently with 20 inches in that area. That would be...bad. Just sent him a long message to grab some supplies and plan on staying put. Too many small streams by roads up where he lives to chance being anywhere but home once this starts and hopefully stay put until it is over.
  9. Wet and dreary. In a good way. This area needs all the moisture it can get.
  10. I wasn't mentioning the Burrow ACL like it was a death knell...he came back year 2 and took them to the Super Bowl. My main thought was to just go ahead and be happy as a fanbase that it appears the QB you took has all the actual upside you want to see and is showing it early (like Burrow did before the knee injury - and, yes, Burrow came back just as good post-injury. He's still a top tier QB). I think Washington has one too, is my general thought.
  11. I mean, we lost Burrow during his rookie year, game 9, to...your team with a blown ACL. Its the NFL, stuff happens. But what you can take absolute heart from is that, setting aside the injury variable which is somewhat random (not entirely, but largely) - Daniels absolutely exudes "IT" - whatever you want to see from an NFL qb - Daniels has all o' that. If I were you all, just bask in that for however long the ride lasts. Beats having drafted, say, Bryce Young a year ago...for instance, at any rate.
  12. Congrats to all the Commanders fans on what looks like just a massive hit at QB in Daniels. I...was in Cincinnati for the game last night so I saw in live and in person. While the Bengals defense was pretty terrible, that takes nothing away from how Daniels took full advantage time and again, and the last drive in particular to salt the game had a series of really heady plays and throws before the final dagger TD (to an almost nothing window). And, the stadium was LOUD for that drive - he managed a very difficult set of circumstances flawlessly. I just wish it had not been against my favorite team but happy for you all that are long-suffering Washington fans. I know from recent experience now much better NFL life is when a legit QB shows up...can turn a franchise around almost overnight.
  13. Gentle steady rain since pre-dawn up my way - most most welcome to see.
  14. Can you all throw maybe at least .5 up to northern baltimore county while you are willing this thing north? I will hang up and listen, thanks.
  15. 73 and absolutely gorgeous evening.
  16. would definitely be nice to find something for this evening/overnight. Last chance for awhile.
  17. I still can’t believe they spent two of their trade chips on that terrible marlins pitcher. Just such a waste.
  18. My part of northern Balt county basically missed everything this week. A little drizzle basically on and off. Looks dry now for another ten days
  19. Hope she has/had a good first day of school!
  20. Down this way, it is pretty much all we have left.
  21. At some point maybe we will luck into a decent season (defined down this way as a 2-3 week span of chances), but it feels like the predictability of that is gonna be nil. Just random luck anymore.
