  1. What a shocking drive over to my hiking group hike for the day - 7.5 mile planned hike north of 70 off route 29. was 28 when I left monkton - good. was up to 31 by fairgrounds exit off 83 - eh was at 32 where beltway and 83 meet - oh no up to frickin’ 34 on beltway around reisterstown rd and held that with some rain over to 70- YIKES temp dropped a bit on final set of turns to the trailhead - 31 over here. Better? I was REALLY hoping that some of this walk would be in falling snow. I guess I can still hope i suppose. Disheartening start to things tho.
  2. Down to 30 at my spot five miles SE of mappy.
  3. I am forever in the area he is removing from snow maps
  4. I am following the Arkansas updates closely because almost time to start compiling the now annual list of places with more snow than our area on the season...
  5. I am just bathing in the cooling goodness of my first Hereford zone winter storm watch….
  6. And…WHY GOD WHY (with the rest of us mentally saying “Heisey this isn’t even your forum”)
  7. Whoa - 20 degrees for me as well. And…my first winter storm watch since moving to the Hereford zone! Seven miles inside the watch - I will take the hope.
  8. It's cool wxluvr - not specifically giving you the business but it is the posting style of a bunch of people in this thread to take a 10+ day map and say "if we-change-a-few-things-it's-Dubai-in-three-weeks" kinda stuff that's all. It's kinda funny taking the long view. And if you read enough of those posts etc. Peace, friend.
  9. Some of y'alls ability to look at fantasy swirls and posit the WORST POSSIBLE OUTCOME is practically a super-power.
  10. In an absolute second I would take 3-4 inches (of snow)
  11. Similar for me only my two labs lol - just want a snowy walk at some point
  12. Looking like Saturday won’t move the needle much at moving the year off the list just yet. Maybe late January will obsolete this thread for the season.
  13. Random observation - when people write “you don’t want to be in the bullseye five days out” I always mentally reply - “I actually want my house in the middle of the bullseye on every run every time”
  14. Ralph, your gut is one the worst possible evolutions of this pattern in terms of snow chances? That’s shocking. You are usually such an optimist… /s
  15. That guy, for all his obvious intelligence, is really bad at reading the room or realizing how his moods swing the long range thread. The funny part is he doesn’t see how taking a control of a weekly showing the worst possible thing and writing fiction off of it going forward might not be conducive to the overall discussion. At least he should balance that with some crazy 1400 hour control weekly run that shows 1000 inches of snow and write fantasy off of that. Would be equally productive.
  16. As of this moment, and today may make this funny in hindsight as it unfolds, but the board gets surprising passing marks from me for how it has handled this system going from being a potentially good event to a likely mostly non-event with some maturity.
  17. The hilarious thing (to me) is that while I am 366 feet I have a shared driveway and my up-the-shared-driveway neighbor is at 393 feet. 27 feet colder in the column literally out my backdoor and looking up at their house.
  18. You bastard! I am only at 366 feet (roof of my house will put my at 380 feet I suppose...)
  19. This was posted I forget by who in the storm thread - For damn sure. Been a LONG between drinks of water, and especially water of this type. Would be great to really get on the board with something along these lines.
  20. “This great evil, where's it come from? How'd it steal into the world? What seed, what root did it grow from? Who's doing this? Who's killing us, robbing us of life and light, mocking us with the sight of what we might've known? Does our ruin benefit the earth, does it help the grass to grow, the sun to shine? Is this darkness in you, too?"
  21. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a person insane. ... We blind ourselves to the truth, because we are weak, because we hope. But there is no hope for snow. Ever.
