  1. Stunning day today although a bit chilly. Made it to 72 after a low of 39 so can’t complain. Great for lunch at my favorite local spot.
  2. Low of 39.4 here. Which means we’ve had 30’s every month so far this year!
  3. You should check out her website - dogbreathphoto.com. Her photos are unbelievable. You'll also appreciate the fact that she's become famous worldwide yet she got her start in the world of dog photography by taking pictures of shelter dogs. Her mission was to make sure that shelter dogs get the best pictures possible because so many people choose based on a web picture of the pup. Such a great person.
  4. Very cool Gene! We also had a cool photography experience this week. A National Geographic photographer and host of the TV show "Pupparazzi" rented my cabin and took some pictures of my dog. She was awesome and it was so much fun!
  5. Oh no way. All the cabins have central air! Doubles as heat pumps down into the teens so it’s actually pretty awesome
  6. 38F this morning so 30s in July - check. Let’s see if we can avoid them in August!
  7. It's mostly done here... But there are very few white pines here, mostly red spruce and balsam fir
  8. Very nice! Mine are still budding. I posted last week how there were no lupines at the Lupine Festival in Sugar Hill this year. Kinda sad, it's very pictoresque but it was nothing but green lawns this year.
  9. Totally right. The next question is... this is my third summer here, why is it that it’s the first time I notice them???
  10. Hey peeps. Question. We are under attack by these stupid little bugs I've never seen before. Even my poor dog is full of bites. Daycare is keeping the kids inside because of them. WHAT ARE THEY??? And most importantly... when will they be gone??? They are awful! And I'm not sure what they are. They look almost like a tiny beetle... bigger than a gnat but much small than a fly. Any ideas???
  11. Gorgeous day today made it to 78 after a low of 36 - a 42 degree swing! Went to the Lupine Festival in Sugar Hill and ironically... Not a single lupine is flowering yet! Kinda funny. Things are definitely behind schedule.
  12. Looks like there are snow showers above 4000 ft or so around us too. Man it's cold
  13. Was up Mt Washington today for a meeting - very cool undercast. Not much left of yesterday's snow, just a little in the shade of the buildings
  14. Headed up the Cog tomorrow as part of an annual local CoC meeting. Glad it wasn't today!
  15. And now a freeze warning. Grrr
  16. It seems like leaves literally grew overnight. Amazing.
  17. Agree - it felt fantastic! Even during the day it was very enjoyable (we were doing Disney so no pool access during the day). Mexico was downright hot but I was in the pool all day there. Coming back to 40 degrees and the smell of smoke (renters had stove going) felt like the transition from summer to fall. Off topic, but really sad situation down in Mexico. Beaches that used to be immaculate were covered in sargassum. Apparently it's been happening for 2 years. Some attribute it to global warming and pollution but it's not entirely clear. Still, heavenly places like Akumal which had swimming pool like coastline now have brownish water and piles of algae everywhere. It's sad. We went diving and you notice a thick brown layer in the top 20 ft or so of water. The reef don't seem affected... For now. But it's a stark wake up call and reminder of what we are doing to this planet.
  18. Got back last night from a Mexico and Orlando trip. Glad that I missed this nonsense. I was hoping to have some more green by now, still nothing though at least the daffodils are up and the forstythia is sporting its usual 4 flowers on the lowest branch. Yippee. I'm soooo ready for summer.
  19. A word of caution. Tried that a few years ago when I first bought my current house and it was a disaster. Granted I live in snowland and my driveway is a quarter of a mile long, but even with weights and chain the JD125 we have would slip and get stuck all the time. Driveway is flat. Then one time we got an inch and a half of sleet and it couldn't do anything to it at all. That was the final straw (and happened on like day 85 of the 90 day return policy). Took it back to Lowes and got a plow.
  20. It's been pounding all day here. Unexpected
  21. I hope SNE gets buried. Not only do they deserve it after what they've endured this season, but this is the time of the year where people quickly stop thinking about skiing if they don't see snow. And the more they think about skiing the more they come up and the better we do in the tourism industry. And I like making money.
  22. Over 36” on the ground. That snowflake thingie is the top of my stake
  23. Thanks - never thought of that. Downloading a free one right now, thanks for the tip!
  24. Same here. How do you get an alarm on your phone?
