  1. Finally some breaks in the clouds with just an occasional stray flurry. Had light snow all morning. 1.25"
  2. Isn't that a rainer right now???
  3. Hey I probably should know but can you tell me why exactly "bowling ball season" refers to?
  4. Nice flakeage this morning. Only an inch or so but pretty nevertheless
  5. It's just a Lowes bucket.
  6. Nope. I started yesterday. Yesterday there seemed to be some nice dripping with the sun out but it didn't amount to anything, and today there wasn't anything at all. I wasn't expecting much, but I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather to tap. It's coming, one way or another
  7. While our weather may be a bit boring at the moment, I started tapping the maples which gave me a really good reminder of how deep the pack is. When you sink, you sink deep! My dog started digging and hit something... I went to check it out, it was the top of my wheelbarrow buried under the snow! It's a bit unreal to feel like you're walking on a surface and realize that the ground is several feet below you. Also cool to notice that the tags that I placed on some trees at eye level are now around waste level. A bit surreal - and not something you really appreciate by just "looking at the snowpack". Took this picture in one of my "breakthroughs". And of course there's more snow under my foot!
  8. I hope SNE gets buried. Not only do they deserve it after what they've endured this season, but this is the time of the year where people quickly stop thinking about skiing if they don't see snow. And the more they think about skiing the more they come up and the better we do in the tourism industry. And I like making money.
  9. Flurries here but not expecting anything more. Temp/DP 5/-16
  10. Haha yes that's fair. The daily plowing is enough playing in the snow
  11. I never cared for physics... Unless I could use it to make snow when I wasn't getting any. Of course I have only done it a couple of times since moving here. Less motivation.
  12. And don't forget, in a different way, snow gun nozzles. The pressure differential reduces the temperature of the water and air going through (PV=nRT)
  13. I think about 5" but it's been really hard to measure, it's entirely too windy. I'm curious to see what the resort reports tomorrow, they are generally very very close to my measurements (I had 6.75 yesterday and they reported 7)
  14. I can't believe how snowy it's been today. It's really making a pretty epic looking snowpack
  15. It's been insane. I just posted this video of my drive home from the gym on the other thread
  16. I wanted to go out today but couldn't bring myself to it. This time of the year I start becoming less and less willing to brave the cold lol. Of course tomorrows high will be 4 so today would probably have been a better choice
  17. Haha come on over. I'm at the gym. Coming down really heavy. This is from the webcam at home (a mile away)
  18. Holy squalls. These pics are not as bad as it got, I could not see 50 ft ahead at one point
  19. Kind of a fun day today between heavy snow squalls and wind gusts. Just took this picture in a short lived peek of sun; the sun and the snow made for a very cool effect. Snow.stake is "down" to 29" though - probably a mix of wind and compaction - even though we've probably gotten another 2" since this morning
  20. Good snow overnight ; 4" giving a 6.75" storm total. Enough to bring the stake over 30" for the first time this season (32" to be exact)
