  1. My area had wind gusts and quickly dropping temperatures after the cold front. Then, at about 9:45PM, the temperature had fallen to about 45 degrees, and a hailstorm came in with 0.25" hail, wind gusts of 40 mph, and lightning. Then, I think we just had some rain with maybe some lightning, with continued wind gusts over 30mph. there was snow in Laramie and also in most areas of the mountains.
  2. I saw that this had been retweeted by Reed Timmer (map is from the SPC)
  3. Interesting pic/video here. My place had about 45mph wind gusts and 3-5 minutes of heavy rain, and several rumbles of thunder. It was pretty exciting. Most of the time I don't see strong wind with thunderstorms around here. Wind gusts were up to 58mph at Fort Collins-Loveland airport. This was an extremely unusual wind event/derecho for the high plains, as most other derechos/ wind events start farther east.
  4. There was a tornado about 4 miles east of Orlando ( 7:30PM eastern)
  5. Some low-rainfall severe storms over the mountains and plains. Edit: some severe storm damage from wind in the Denver area. Edit: DIA had a gust to 78mph with blowing dust and a thunderstorm.
  6. I think this is my first severe storm watch of the year
  7. I'm not really sure if the parameters will line up this well. As far as forecast soundings are concerned, I haven't seen a forecast SCP above 70 something, other than last night's 00z NAM run. I have heard that storm chasers are concerned about getting stopped at the borders of Native American reservations, due to COVID-19. The models seem to have a lot more in the multicell (squall line) modes developing tomorrow night, despite awesome supercell parameters.
  8. 10 years ago --- 6/5/10 - My old hometown of Perrysburg was nearly hit by a deadly tornado after 11:00PM. The tornado hit near State Route 795 in Lake Township, hit Lake High School and near Metcalf Airport, also known as Toledo Executive Airport, and continued on to do up to EF4 damage to structures in Millbury, directly east of I-280 and State Route 795. Severe weather parameters increased at nighttime due to a warm front, or possibly just strengthening of the low-level jet. My dad took pictures of train cars that had been flipped near Toledo Executive Airport. NWS Cleveland web page for this: https://www.weather.gov/cle/event_20100605_MillburyTornado old data applied to new GRLevel3 program
  9. This storm was between Buffalo, SD and Faith SD, with a brief 80 dBz
  10. Last night, an MCS in Missouri was moving westward, and a squall line in Kansas was moving eastward. They met up, and some storms formed a bridge between them. Coming up later today and Saturday, the SPC has an enhanced risk outlook for South Dakota on both days.
  11. There's a supercell with weak rotation between Louisiana, MO, Detroit, IL, and Time, IL. How could you be located at Time?? Only Einstein could figure that out.
  12. My first time using Canadian radar data on Radarscope
  13. A few new severe storms are popping up near Mankato, MN
  14. Some pictures from May 29th (1st picture) and today. I got pictures of a storm, which had the most rain over Horsetooth Mountain (shown in picture) and also Fort Collins
  15. Using this tool, I have figured out that the series of tornadoes from June 1st-3rd, 1980 can be split up into two parts. Several tornadoes happened in various areas with the first low pressure that tracked from the Plains to New England. The Grand Island tornadoes developed with a new warm sector with a new low pressure in the Plains https://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/outbreaks/
  16. My place has a new storm that developed very close to town. There are lightning bolts all over the place, like this
  17. Space-X and NASA have had a successful launch. It is the first time astronauts have launched from Cape Canaveral since the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011.
  18. The storm near you was fairly short-lived. Maybe you got to see a nice anvil or some lightning in the cloud. Today, it's 110 in Phoenix, as an upper-level low offshore from CA helps boost the ridge over the Southwest. That upper low will move towards Oregon, and there should be some chances for severe weather near and east of the Cascades. This is a very unusual situation. We have had some pleasant days. My area had some brief lightning and rain on Wednesday evening. edit: tonight there were a few lightning flashes out to my east a supercell near Cheyenne transitioned to this horseshoe-shaped storm
  19. This person posted the radar image of the large waterspout-producing supercell over Galveston bay at 3:33PM (Eastern Time, I believe)
  20. The storms over the Yucatan peninsula attained overshooting tops of -90C by my estimation, based on the color scale (bottom of this image). Based on models, this tropical atmosphere had an equilibrium level of 15 kilometers, at -70C.
  21. There are possible tornadoes near Wells, MN and Rowan, IA right now. The storm cells is so small, the moderate/heavy rain may be falling in a 2mi x 4mi corridor in both.
  22. My place may have gotten 0.8" or better. It was fairly cool, with no thunder and lightning. It's a pretty nice to have a day of gentle rain. It helps the plants and crops to have the water sink into the soil. There is not a quick water runoff and the soil is cool. The water doesn't immediately evaporate.
  23. pretty cool pic/video from near Post, TX
  24. Genoa tornado 1-hr rotation track (MRMS)
  25. Today has certainly had some excitement, with 6 zones of severe weather.
