  3. Might be best, if play dies resume in the summer, that all games be considered as exhibitions. In the fall, regardless of the won and loss record, every major league team would participate in the October madness playoffs. The final two teams will play for the championship. Sort of like college basketball. Back to the bunker. As always ....
  4. The single party authoritarian leadership in China cannot have it both ways. Their enterprising citizenry has now had the taste of honey. The totalitarian, isolated China of the 50’s could have pulled it off. It’s much harder, now, for their leadership to keep the lid on the truth. Notice how well their bastard child to the north of South Korea has kept his nations real disaster quiet. If the present Chineses leadership wants to continue their growth in the global economy, their window of information will never be completely sealed. Something as basic as burial urn information will find its way to the light of day. We should put our left and right leaning inclinations aside and think logically with the middle, our heads. Yes the truth of their outbreak and it’s source has been abridged. My opinion may seem jaded but I feel that their leaderships draconian efforts had more to do with the potential loss of their growing global economic dominance then concern for their good citizens. The full extent will come out in time. As always ...

  12. This forum has been quite the lager education for me. Makes me think back to my younger days in the fifties and wonder what Bert and Harry would have thought about all of this. As always ....

  14. In the years to come at the March solstice and after a warm rainy winter season we can all join ( at proper distance ) around the fire pit and belt out the song “Tradition” from Fiddler On The Roof”. The blazing fire pit will be welcome as we greet the cold rainy spring. As always....... ( Don’t bother reporting this post, fellow members, I’ll probably self request R Jay and BX to be banned )
  15. Unc., thanks for the memory. I was.an almost 17 year old Junior, going to Fort Hamilton High School. I remember a couple of the ne’er do wells myself included would, on warm spring days, leave school during lunch.(going back was optional) and head for the 92bd Street belt parkway walk over. From that vantage point you had a great view of the skyline north and the under construction Verrazano Bridge south. We thought, as Sinatra would sing, that we had the world on a string. I’ll leave it to you to imagine where that string, now a rope, nearly ended up, “ Days of Innocence days of Confidences” as always ....

  19. Well done. Not sure how I would feed a sparrow. She seems to have done well and adapted to her domestic habitat. Frankly I’ve never known anyone to have the success you have had with an indigenous species. She probably doesn’t miss the company of her fellows as both of you have become that for her. Sadly yesterday what looks like a long billed shore bird hit the back parlor floor window of my row house. The poor fellow was dead on impact. It was the first time in 45 years living there that I experienced that. He must have been lost or pursued because he hit the widow at high speed, as always .......
