The past three days have been phenomenal; if I could bottle them up and open when needed, I would gladly do so. You cannot stop the match towards summer, but personally I can do without the HHH; oh well, I haven’t figured out how to control the weather yet.

May 2024 Discussion - Welcome to Severe Season!!!!
ForestHillWx replied to weatherwiz's topic in New England
Come to NJ, our bruin population is significant and we have considerably less wilderness for them to hang out in. I agree with @powderfreakthey largely will move along, however right now is peak risk due to momma bears with cubs. Two small dogs were KIA in Sparta the other day; the owner sustained mild injury. It’s all about educating the people who live in “bear-country”. My personal pet peeve: trash bags put out the night before pick up, instead of early on the day of. Why not just ring the dinner bell? Cheers all! -
Dark with rumbles. Light rain. And just had the first flash of lightening. Edit: very heavy rain now with some wind

At the request of my wife and kids, and as it is Mother’s Day, the heat has been reactivated as the internal temp dropped to 60. Currently 43, with rain, in Chester.

We were pretty much locked in under overcast skies all day with a brisk east wind; 57 was the warmest. Back down to 46 with rain now.

Earthquake was stronger than the aftershocks we had been getting. Lasted about 5 seconds. This was the closest to my house yet.

Getting a decent storm out this way. Lightening, thunder, rain. No winds though. Rain will help cut down on the pollen, the air was choked with it before.

Not far at all, maybe 3 miles as the crow flies. I recently saw it, didn’t know it was an official site. Good to know.

Curious to see how fast we warm up today; yesterday was raw. Never made it above 54 degrees and with occasional drizzle while mowing the yard. Though, it was a good day for the fire pit to start burning all of the downed sticks/limbs in the yard from the winter.
-
Temp inversion in this area, multiple readings from the weather stations in the lower lying areas at 30/31; up on top of the hill it’s 35.
-
Buddy was hiking near Boonton and said the woods made some eerie sounds dung the aftershock.

We are in Chester, about 12 miles north west of the epicenter. My wife called me very panicked as she did not know what it could be. We lost a few pictures and some of the window treatments broke.

Had a dusting in Chester; brother up in Franklin got over 2”.

Currently 24 with strong winds gusting at times. Easily cracked 3”; hoping to see if Walt links to the cocorahs maps later.

We are getting tremendous amounts of rain down this way in northwest Jersey; about to crack 2”. I can only imagine that unloads on you all further northeast. -
Heaviest of the storm at the moment. Rivers running through my back yard.
-
Beast of a storm coming, too bad it’s wet and not white for us. Up north is going to get pounded.
-
Driving home today along 80 west the Passaic is already over its banks in Fairfield between Two Bridges and Horseneck Road. Would anticipate that 2-3” on top would put it back into major flood stage.
-
23 here, now I feel bad raking out old leaves from a few of the garden beds. Hopefully emerging plants won’t burn too much.
-
Snowed here. Dusting on cars/grass/patio furniture. That’s 3 nights in a row.
