  1. I slept through it too, lol. I guess there wasn't any thunder to wake us up. Glad we got a good soaking though.
  2. I'm starting to wonder if we're gonna see any extreme heat this summer. It's getting late. And what a weekend we have coming up. A beautiful airmass comes in friday afternoon into saturday. Dewpoints could drop to the low 50s. Saturday looking like a top 10 day of the year with sunshine, low 80s and very low humidity. Even when it warms up on sunday, it's nothing impressive and humidity will only come up a little. Looks like the best weekend of the summer.
  3. That's exactly the amount I got too. As Allsnow said, this event ended up being a bust. Even areas to the north that got a significant amount of rain didn't get the huge amounts that Forky was talking about.
  4. I agree with you for our area. I just had a nice heavy downpour, but no lightning at all with it. From the way radar looks I think we could see a couple more downpours and maybe an inch or so of rain, but the really big amounts that would cause flooding are going to our north. So I'm going to bed now since it's not looking like anything spectacular for our area.
  5. Radar looks that way too, but it's going to be very close.
  6. New HRRR run shifted it slightly north. We're so close to the sharp cutoff here as you said earlier. We could get a ton of rain or we could get almost nothing. I'll be staying up in case we get crushed.
  7. Continues to look like a nice airmass coming in at the end of the week with dewpoints dropping to the 50s. Saturday looks like a spectacular day to start off the weekend with sunshine and low humidity. Then it heats up on sunday and we'll have to see what the magnitude of the heat is early next week, as WX/PT said.
  8. Same here. I saw thousands of them last year but none this year. Strange how they just disappeared from our area. I don't know if the extremely dry weather we had in May had something to do with that.
  9. Beautiful outside right now with the WNW wind and dewpoints down to the low 60s.
  10. Yeah the Mosquitos have been extra bad this year.
  11. I love summer but like having variety. I want some periods of heat/humidity to increase the chance of storms, but it's also nice to have some days with temps in the low 80s with low humidity. This summer has been nice since the dry period ended in late June. We've had plenty of storms but also some very nice airmasses with low humidity mixed in.
  12. Looks like low humidity coming in at the end of the week too.
  13. I had stronger wind from the storm we got on July 25th, but yeah this was the best lightning show in a few years. Downright spectacular. It was worth it losing sleep.
  14. Nice storm keeping me awake at 2 in the morning. Lots of close lightning strikes.
  15. Sourland Mountain, nice! I was in Shoprite when a heavy downpour happened. Got home and saw that it was dry. Missed my house by just a couple miles to the southeast.
  16. All seasons have some good things to offer, but I think winter and summer are most interesting for weather enthusiasts.
  17. Summer and winter are my favorite seasons. I hate to see summer come to an end. Fall is boring.
  18. And not only no heat coming, but we're going to continue to see nice airmasses with low humidity at times. After some rain monday night into tuesday, another low humidity airmass comes in mid next week. In the longer range it appears another one will come in next weekend.
  19. 12z HRRR has a nice line of storms for late in the day.
  20. Had a couple brief heavy downpours here with that last batch. It's over now and I ended up with a total of 0.82". Nice soaking.
  21. Picked up to heavy for awhile, but now it's tapering off. 0.47" here so far. My vegetable garden is happy. Looks as if the steady rain is about over, but still some scattered activity to the west so we might add some more to the totals.
  22. 0.26 here so far. It tapered down to light rain, but heavier rain in Somerset and Mercer Counties is about to move in. That should get us close to a half inch.
  23. A nice moderate rain here right now. Decent batch of rain moving in. I agree with you that we should get about a half inch out of this.
  24. Doesn't look like the big event that yesterday's 12z models showed, but at least RGEM looks decent as you said. Latest HRRR run has heavy rain going across central NJ with our area being on the edge of it. Tough call for this afternoon. I'll be happy if we get a solid half inch like RGEM shows.
  25. Just looked at all the models after being out since mid afternoon, and wow what a difference from what the 12z models were showing. I see RGEM cut way back too. Hopefully we can at least get a halfway decent soaking if we miss the big amounts, but even that is in question now.
