  1. What exactly do you mean here?
  2. Steady rain continues, despite looking like it is breaking up just to the west. Keeps redeveloping. 0.70"
  3. Rain is slacking off now. 0.58" so far. Hope its done.
  4. It will certainly send the tp hoarders back to the stores in droves.
  5. Yeah I have noticed that. Pouring here now. Looks like decent frontogenetic forcing sets up here and esp towards the coast with the developing coastal low. It has been really wet here lately. A couple weeks ago my "seasonal wetland" back in the woods was unusually dry. Water table has now broken the surface and it's expanding now. Gonna have to larvicide it as usual.
  6. Raining here light to moderately this morning. temp is 40. Heavy stuff just to my south and on the doorstep. 0.23" so far.
  7. Sounds similar to what I did. I bought the lot(completely wooded) and me and my dad removed all the trees we could with chainsaws and pulled stumps with his Kubota. Had to bring in multiple truck loads of topsoil after removing all the trees/stumps as it takes a bunch of earth with it. Initially I had a nice lawn, but nature takes its course and after a few years(and dry periods in the summer) and moles, I had to start over. I have done it several times over the years, but nature is always working against any order you try to establish lol. I have let the moss take over where it wants to grow, and I am now trying to maintain that small area of grass in the back, where it sees a fair amount of sun in the summer.
  8. Its 6 acres, and yes its mostly wooded. The only clearing is right around the house, and mostly what you see in the photo. There are some trees close to the house I need to take down.
  9. Thanks. I have gone through many a lawn revamps over the years lol. With all the trees, the moles. moss, its not easy. My strategy has been to lessen the grass area, as you can see with the mulch areas and the fire pit, lol. At least now it is manageable to the point where I may be able to water it constantly when the sun angle is high and it gets hot and dry in mid summer. Its a battle every year to keep it from burning to a crisp on the sunny side of the yard in July and August
  10. Mowed for the first time today. Impressed with this black beauty tall turf type fescue. Planted it last fall and it has come up early and already super green, which its known for. Whether it survives the long, hot(probably dry) summer remains to be seen. Tough conditions in the woods. Also got quite a bit of new mulch down. Easily 2 weeks ahead of schedule with the growing season.
  11. Remember this- we want a -AO above all. If the AO is only weakly positive, then a favorably placed EPO ridge can compensate. When we have a ++AO like this winter, we are pretty well fukked no matter what. There may well be a correlation between that and the tropical forcing tendencies, and if what psu is suggesting becomes the base state for winters going forward, get used to NC winters here.
  12. If I can get the mower going, I will mow today for the first time. Mostly to whack the chickweed down so the emerging grass can better choke it out.
  13. Might not verify, but given it is Spring, good chance it will. Maybe one day we will again see a HL h5 look like this when it actually matters.
  14. 34 here this morning. Probably one of the last "wintery" feeling days this season. Already had an 80+ day. Still predicting we see 90 by mid April.
  15. Y'all should stop engaging with PDIII about this. He is still going to breakfast buffets.
  16. Well, I think it has been pretty well established that those who are advanced in age and/or have underlying conditions are most at risk of dying from this virus. In Italy, the culture is very close knit- multiple generations of families spending more time together than other places in general. This would naturally increase the risk for older folks. Other factors include increased testing relative to other places, and specifically how they determine the cause of death.
  17. In strategic shift, doctors in America's two largest cities are told to skip some coronavirus testing https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-outbreak-03-21-20-intl-hnk/h_78c431662464112a27434663a0860cdc
  18. Its Saturday, 3pm. Sheltering in place. Must be HH! I think I will sip on this DFH WWS.
  19. Its been pretty wet here lately. Just about 2.5" for the month, and much of that over the last 10 days. Looks like an area wide 1 inch deal for Monday, then another possible event by Wed. The seasonal wetland in the woods on the back part of my property was unseasonably dry 2 weeks ago. just a small puddle in one place. It is rapidly expanding now. Just ordered more larvicide. It looked for a while like I might just need to drop a few dunkers here and there. By the end of this week I will probably have to "seed" the whole area.
  20. Looks like the showers here may be moving out. Picked up 0.21" so far. Wasn't really expecting much of anything. Lots to do outside so hopefully we get some rapid clearing later this morning. Tomorrow looks like a great day, followed by a soaking rain for Monday.
  21. Surprised to see heavy rain this morning. Literally pouring right now.
  22. Just drank an Eastern Shore Brewing 'Strawberry Shakedown'. It just looked too "weird" not to try it. It is a DIPA and I thought it was freaking delicious.
  23. Sure looks like it will be quite different feeling tomorrow. Too bad all the dynamics are well north with the front. Weak sauce showers moving through down here.
  24. Perhaps we should make a separate COVID-19 thread. I know some are annoyed by the virus discussion taking over banter. Plus it is clearly difficult to completely separate politics from the discussion. With no sports to discuss, at least banter can get back to focusing on beer and booze. @WxUSAF?
