lol Notice no one said anything about it but him. No reason for him to swoop in and jump on his soapbox. It was the libtards who ran Mitch off the board ya know!!!
  2. I have plenty of the big ones, and they do make some serious noise. I had one collide with one of the big right triangle windows on my house years ago, and plopped down onto the deck. it was stunned/concussed and stayed there for hours. Got to see it up close. Woody woodpecker. It was impressive. Eventually it recovered and made its way to a nearby tree, then eventually flew off.

Yeah, I think we got it. Like the first 9 times you posted this. And..most of us here already knew and acknowledged all this, without you saying it ad nauseam. Got anything else?

Looks like baseball season will start soon, just not here. Might be a preview of how things will go here later in summer, assuming things progress according to the latest model projections. Can the U.S. return to sports soon? South Korea might offer clues https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28998585/can-us-return-sports-soon-south-korea-clues

Wow that is quite a bit different. Lets hope this is how it plays out in reality.

One essential requirement for "reopening" the economy- which we still don't have- is widely available, fast testing. IMO it would be very difficult to execute otherwise.

I believe that's his code word for "librul".

It could happen in stages, but it will be a bit tricky to execute. Summer, people want to travel, good deals on airfare. NY may be approaching zero new cases by mid May, but here and other places that likely won't be the case.

There will be some hesitation but it wont take long. The tricky part is exactly when do we "reopen"? Maybe a good ol' early season heat ridge will help quell fears of a re occurrence as the cases dwindle.

Mitigating the spread is what will get it done.

Given where we are on the curve in many locations of the country this week, and considering that a significant number of folks who are infected may exhibit no symptoms, wearing masks makes a lot of sense now.

Granny lived a long life. Time for her to make the sacrifice for my 401k.
  16. Yeah they are after food. Most likely carpenter bee larvae. Have you noticed any evidence of infestation where the woodpeckers are doing their thing? The bees drill in(typically upward) then turn 90 degrees and drill out a channel up to a foot long. Woodpeckers will peck that whole area out in no time. My fascia was damaged several times this way.

Seems bizarre to me. Above my pay grade though. I took biology and zoology in college, and found it very interesting in a fundamental context. Maybe if I had stayed at a Holiday Inn Express..

Yeah I just saw this. Interesting.
  19. The bio lab angle is more interesting/juicy, but most likely patient 1 was some sloppy fool who got bat urine or blood in his eye while slaughtering it for a customer.
  20. Yes it is. Non zero chance, but as close as it gets. Could still happen far western highlands, and somewhat more likely north of us in the interior. NNE will see more snow.

In general yeah. Esp for NY, which is the biggest hot spot. That is what the modeling has been depicting. Other places, the peak(daily deaths) will be later, but not as extreme.
  23. You can buy these online, or make them yourself. There is a perfectly sized hole on each side, This one always gets the most- it has been a hot spot for drilling over the years. There is a pile of them in there just over the last few days(mostly today). They always return to the previous nesting site. The key is to eradicate the queen, drones , and larvae if you do get an infestation, then plug the hole in the fall. Place a trap there, and the following Spring you will be amazed. eta- the holes are drilled on an upward angle, Once they enter, they go towards the light, which is down the bottom. Once in the bottle/jar they are done for. They struggle to exhaustion/fry in the sun, until death. It's glorious, for those who have seen the damage they can do.
  24. Carpenter bees are back. Anyone who has had issues, the traps work. I have been using them for several years now after some bad infestations, and then the woodpecker damage that follows. I have 8 hanging up around the house and deck. They Protect this (log) house!
