  1. Yeah it was windy af today, but seriously not cold. 50 degrees and felt fine in the sun with a hat and light jacket. I was outside putting plants in pots for summer and dug some holes to plant some perennials.
  2. Cutting through all the noise of those silly maps, it looks like it may snow a few inches in the far western highlands. Not that unusual for mid April.
  3. I may end up there later.
  4. (Good) Friday Happy Hour is about to commence. Founders KBS is the choice.
  5. XFL redux is done. Suspended operations today. Will not return. That means never.
  6. Now you can ignore all the hand wringing over AO, NAO. and EPO phases. MJO even. It's all pretty irrelevant up there.

Not sure that will ever happen on a large scale, for a variety of mostly obvious reasons.

    COVID-19 Talk

Imagine if we had actually been prepared for a pandemic. An efficient mechanism to rapidly produce effective test kits with fast results, swabs, masks, ventilators, a process in place for effective contact tracing. Perhaps there would have been no widespread stay at home orders, and minimal shutting down of businesses. Maybe it all could be coordinated by a well funded Pandemic Response Team at the Fed level. All far fetched though. What country would do that?

Good move. Too bad I captured it.

I think you have just been added to the Phin shiithead list.
  12. I can understand putting a freeze watch in effect given the growing season has begun. I don't think the majority of the region(east of the mountains) will have much of a problem given the winds though. Temps of 32-35 with no frost won't be an issue. If the winds should go light for a time early Sat morning, then that obviously changes. Given the extended period of higher winds and low dew points, you would think there would be some fire weather concerns.
  13. It's possible if winds die down. Right now forecasts are for winds to be in the 15 mph range with gusts to 25. Without the mixing, temps could certainly get into the 28-32 range in some outlying areas.
  14. Absolutely, unless you are looking for the EPS goods.
  15. Not sure about it reaching freeze criteria, with decent winds continuing. Not likely to be any frost either. Low to mid 30s looks legit for areas away from the urban sprawl.
  16. Ah so you keep WB for tropical. That's cool. Not worth it for me. I don't pay enough attention during the summer. Free sites are plenty good.
  17. Its time for a big ol stout. WWS should do it. Happy Good Friday eve, Christians!

They are already vectors for plenty of other nasty shiit. COVID would probably be mild by comparison. I have to larvicide this time every year anyway. If I hit it at the right time(s) I wont see more than a few skeeters here and there through summer. It becomes intolerable by mid May if I don't. My mosquitoes are all home grown.
  19. ^Cant wait to see what these Maps look like in June. Never had any reason to look.
  20. I hit one going into Easton this morning, and then this one heading out. No shelf this time. Poured all the way up 309. I get home, and the ground is barely wet lol. The wind machine is cranking though.

it wont be needed to get back to some semblance of normalcy, but the modified "behaviors" will need to continue. I think most people will abide by it because of some residual fear and simply being used to doing it. I will be ready to roll. I am concerned about how long the travel restrictions will be maintained though. June - August is my time to travel. Also have friends scheduled to come here from across the pond in a couple months.
  22. I took a couple shots of the storm rolling in just as I was driving into Easton around 7 am. Pretty decent storm for being so early and temps in the low 50s. Some good T&L.
  23. Hard to believe- frozen is a long shot in the MA in mid April.
  24. Chilly for mid April around here is highs in the 50s- low 60s. Much rather that than a pattern that brings us 80s and humidity. Hopefully we can avoid a late freeze. A few nights in the 30s wouldn't hurt anything.
