  1. Past hour
  2. With me it's usually either storms or winds. Sometimes even a single gust to like 30 mph is enough to shut off the power.
  3. Could see a few thunderstorms tomorrow night make there way in from PA/southern NY. Pretty good elevated CAPE around if storms can hold

  15. Nah, if you did that you'd be done readng in 30 seconds for a full day's posts. What's the point of restricting posting during what is a weather forum's traditional "low season?"
  16. Yeah we WAA as 850s get to +17 or so here. It won't be a totally sunny day, but should be warm and humid for sure. Probably some sct shwrs around in spots.

  23. Thats very dangerous and why I have UPS set up in my house. Expensive electronic equipment can get fried when they lower the voltage. I haven't even listed the times that happened, but about 25 years ago, when I only used surge protectors and not UPS, one of my computers fried (literally, I smelled burning rubber inside) during an undervoltage event associated with a thunderstorm. And it's happened numerous other times not even associated with any bad weather at all, but I've always had UPS systems since that first disaster that I used my homeowner's insurance to pay for.
  24. I was in Greece summer 2003 so I missed the blackout. However, the summers I was here growing up, I used to live in central Queens where ConEd would lower the voltage to the point where our AC compressor wouldn't even turn on. It was a 220V machine. Every time it got really hot, the AC wouldn't do it damned job. Thanks ConEd! Astronomical bills well deserved.
