I'm not sure it should be drier than 1997-98....stronger El Niño plus CC...I agree December will probably we warmer than 1997, but after that it's pretty iffy.

2001-2 was dry..doubt with all that southern branch moisture it would be a match

Why? 2001-02 was warmer than 1997-98. Who pays your heating bill? Most people will be celebrating a winter that warm. No I mean drier than 1997-98 not drier than 2001-02. But warmth on the level of 2001-02 which was a warmer winter than 1997-98.

Oaks seem always to be loaded. I remember at the height of the blizzard of 12/11-12,1960 the oak at the side of our house was loaded with brown dry leaves.

Was up in central PA this weekend (north of Harrisburg by about 30 miles). Lots of color, still some green, definitely peak foliage there over the next seven days. And totally stellar weather to see it all in.

I had 19” here and the oaks were still loaded post storm with partially green leaves.

Check your climo. They’re east of the mountains and don’t get much rain or snow but they do get both. About as much snow as Boston but a tad colder.

Warmer than +10 to +12 would be the apocalypse.

CC is one factor, but we lack the MC contribution that 2015 had, which accentuated the warmth.

Yes, this is more east based at the surface then 2015, no one world argue otherwise.

I agree with you but I'm on the dry warm train not the wet warm train. I think this winter will be much more like 2001-02 than 1997-1998. Most people care about the result much more than the cause. 2001 shows up in the records very strongly this week. More like 2001. And also drier. Thanks Don any record of snowfall at MPO on either of those two dates? What was the low at JFK on that earlier date October 19, 2015? Also a big el nino. Last night my lows were very similar 28.6, 28.8 and 29.1 on my main sensors so only about 0.2 degrees lower than the night before and the high was 60 so 2 degrees higher than the previous day so almost a carbon copy. It's the absolute perfect weather, now just shift it to next summer so we can have some nice 104/64 splits with very low humidity and clear blue skies. They beat FOK, I wonder what MVY low was? Basically a carbon copy of yesterday the low was 0.2 lower the high was 2 degrees higher.
