Maggie Valley Steve
Looks like 1 to 3 inches of rain ahead, mainly Saturday night. The SW Mountain area could be the big winners for this event. Next Tuesday looks chilly! Lows Wednesday morning are hinting at mid to upper 30's.

Tyler Penland
Been pretty busy lately, but looks like we have our first fantasy NW flow storm on the GFS at 18z- first one I've noticed at least. Winter is definitely on the way.

Currently very cheap and available on desktop/apple/iphone all three. I've been enjoying it. Its pretty new and they're adding stuff all the time. Not as in depth as Weatherbell but a fraction of the price and I love the fact it is fully zoom-able to whatever region you want. https://www.weatherfront.com/

Maggie Valley Steve
Fall colors are becoming noticeable now above 5K and even some early colors here in the Valley. Popular trees around the house have begun to turn yellow and drop. Our part of the Mountains have had a lot of rainfall since July. Fingers crossed the colors will be vibrant. We are booked solid for the next 25 days in our short term rental downstairs.

Moonhowl Posted yesterday at 12:18 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:18 PM Cycled up Mt Mitchell the last day of September; a few shots of the fall color; one enhanced a bit by the morning sun: (maybe a quarter inch of rain; will be bone dry again around here in a few days)
Maggie Valley Steve Posted yesterday at 12:47 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:47 PM We will need to keep an eye on the Gulf this week. An area of disturbed weather is festering in the Bay of Campeche and looks to meander generally N to NE during the week. Models are suggesting it could be absorbed by a strong cold front next weekend into a week from today.
Met1985 Posted yesterday at 02:18 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:18 PM The models absolutely crapped the bed with the past weekend rain event. 2

Maggie Valley Steve
92L in the Bay of Campeche is looking better today with deep thunderstorms and appears likely that a Hurricane will develop later this week, possibly early this weekend in the Gulf. Hurricane models suggest landfall along the Central Gulf Coast with Google Deep Mind ensembles clustered further East near the Florida Panhandle. Rain chances do look to increase over the weekend locally.

Tyler Penland
Not that the GFS is terrible. This will probably take out what leaves have changed at higher elevations, not that they are particularly vibrant this year.

Maggie Valley Steve
TD 9 was designated by the NHC at 5:00 PM. Currently a high altitude G-IV mission is underway sampling along the Gulf Coast and SE. That new data should be ingested into the 00Z of dynamical models.
