Central PA Spring 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread

Of interest (whether good for storms or not) is that we were partly to mostly sunny all afternoon. Now, the clouds that we've had around are pushing south, and we have a totally cloudless sky.

Just wondering if that's going to fuel bigger and better storms, or if it's going to hinder our chances for severe.

68/51 currently.

Thermo dynamic and kinematic profiles are finally growing throughout the area, better indices are also adventing into our area.

Notice the lightning just slightly deviating south  in the area that I noted supercell characteristics. That could be lightning displaced in the anvil, though. No shortage of cells out in western pennsylvania, starting to ark although i'm seeing a lot more cell  mergers than splits. Pretty decent amount of lightning for this early in  storm development.

Thunder and lightning here

First drops here, but no noise, or even lightning detection, yet...

Edited to add that future radar shows more interesting stuff coming after this first slug between 6:30 and 7:30.
