As of midnight, we have 10.0" in Metuchen, so "only" 1.0" the last hour as we had heavy snow the first 15-20 minutes of the hour, but it has let up some since. While we haven't had the very high rates of 2"+ per hour some have seen, we also haven't seen less than 1" per hour since about 5 pm with a few 1.5" per hour rates. It's still 30F. 18" seems like a lock and 20" seems very attainable; would need to get some high end bands to get to 24" though, I think. It's frikkin amazing out there!

Anyone keeping eyes on tide gauges?! Unless I'm crazy, one out here on orient is getting very close to minor stage already and high tide isn't till 4 am!

As of 12:00 am measured 9.0".  Snow depth is 14".  Temp/dp is 30.2/29.5. Snow of varying intensity, mostly light to moderate since then.

It's windy, but well short of blizzard criteria on both wind and viz.

9.0 inches of snow on 2/22 brings our seasonal total to 40.1"

Finally beginning to see some rates compensate for the marginal temp layers and strong winds here on barnegat bay.  Didnt anticipate staying awake long enough to watch it happen, but I wanted to see where the deform band was going to set up to the west.   Also embracing an extra day off from my daily winter gig.

Final Thoughts :  I've seen plenty of inside/on/outside benchmark systems roll through over the years.  This is an interesting one, that will warrant plenty of post-storm analysis from mets that know farrrr more than my anecdotal-mind is capable of understanding.   

Ill spare everyone my rant about modern "modelology," but would hope to see a moderator consider opening a thread to discuss the GFS performance for the current system.  The "lock" was early, persistent, and unwavering.   I like to give credit where it is due, especially when the signal was picked up at an impressive lead time.

Just measured 6.2".

Interesting....surface winds from pretty much western L.I. are due north.  Very unusual situation to see this kind of snow with a due north wind.

Just went for a little walk and cleaned off the car. Long story short, it's a lot of snow. Wanted to send other pics but they aren't attaching for whatever reason but this is just an idea of how deep it is.
