weatherpruf
I’m up; it’s the old man’s 3 am curse: usually up for an hour before crashing again. Thank god I’m retired. Worried about the wheel on my blower and there’s nothing I can do but hope it holds up. Really worried about dealing with excessive amounts now; I’ve got the two stage backup but these kinds of snows are dangerous for folks like me.
Tatamy
NAM Wind gusts Those are hurricane force wind gusts on eastern LI. The other visible feature is an inverted trough that helps to extend the precipitation field into western and NW NJ. This is one for the meteorology textbooks.

There’s no reason it should start noticeably worse and then go and do that. It seems like one of those classic NAM runs that has no chance of verifying but looks great through weenie goggles. Bombogenesis is a real thing,we just dont experience as much of that in recent years. It can def go from meh to wtf in hours.

TriPol
There was talk of closing this thread earlier in the week because the chances were so small that anything would come of it. Now Atlantic City could get... 4 feet of snow. 4

The nws prob has newer data, which warranted an immediate blizzard warning for all coastal areas The nam is the first to show a possible verification of this. Lest not forget all the other models who also have a 80% alignment with what's being printed out with the current nam.

Upton knew this was on the table and made the decision to issue the warning in order to give people time to prepare.
