Unreal. 

We have had no rates anywhere close to that on this side of the Skyway..very small flakes entire event..6" now..please send it this way lol

I hope you're all using the clean and measure method. The amount of compaction with this one surprised me. It's fluffy and light and I guess easily compacts.  That's why some of you may seem to be accumulating more slowly than you think today.

I actually thought it had stopped snowing here, but had to look something dark colored (vehicle) to see that some of the smallest snowflakes I've ever seen were falling. I get a few dime to nickel sized flakes then back to micro flakes.

Looking at the radar (hard to tell), can almost see what looks like a faint streamer coming off the river close to Lenior City, feeding toward Tellico area.

Starting to see posts/videos from Coker Creek area of near whiteout conditions. Almost all of them are saying they got 2-3" in last 30 mins.

There's so little water content, any sun will zap layers quickly, even if it's frigid.

I would guess this is the very coldest of air pouring into the region on a fresh snowpack.  That is triggering nearly north-south snow bands.  The atmosphere is squeezing out every last drop of moisture.  We have had several heavy bands of snow here this afternoon.  It is amazing how cold my hands get with these temperatures.

Definitely a snowband feeding off Tellico Lake/River...rates will back off a few mins, but pick right back up. Still heavy snow falling.

Talking to one of the older county plow drivers who just came off Coker Creek. Last time he remembers it snowing that hard up there was '93.

Perhaps bridging to the February thread, with such a large surface area white here from this system and our north from the last, I wonder if this can tip the scales on wednesdays system in edge cases.

I've hit the 10in mark in Greene County using a board. First time since 98.  I actually measure 11 inches consistently throughout the yard, but will go with 10 officially since the grass is pretty thick.

I'm too far west of the Cedar Bluff band, too far east for the Farragut band. Looks like they're slowly moving east though.

Somewhat off topic but I'll never forget my first snowstorm here in early January 2022... I read the forum all night, watched the valley hold onto the warm air as the cold from the Plateau slowly worked its way down, watched the rain change to sleet and then snow at like 1:30 AM, and then woke up to a surprise 1.8 inch of snow. Meanwhile outside of Hardin Valley (where I lived at the time), there was little if any accumulation, it's like the storm was specifically for me. After that I don't complain about having slightly lower totals than the people around me, I used up my good luck that winter lol

I think I’m going to mark this as a 2.5” snow but it’s honestly a total guess. The sun did an excellent job of vaporizing it off the roads. The only slick spots are shady areas or areas exposed to the wind that are getting blowing snow.

Radar just looks like normal NW flow to me now. That’s unlikely to accumulate down here.

A little OT, but I feel terrible for the Raleigh snow lovers.  They have been dry slotted this entire time.  Pretty crazy to look at on radar.

I saw a photo of the mountains above Gatlinburg with 18 inches.
