...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST THURSDAY ABOVE
3500 FEET...

* WHAT...Snow expected above 3500 feet. Total snow accumulations
mainly of 2 to 4 inches, with isolated ridges seeing up to 6
inches. Winds gusting 50 to 55 mph with higher gusts possible on
the highest peaks.

* WHERE...High elevations of Madison, Mitchell, and Yancey Counties,
above 3500 feet.

* WHEN...Until noon EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...The heavy snow will create snow covered roads and
produce scattered power outages. The hazardous conditions could
impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Strong
winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.

Down to 40 here at the house with light rain, but the temperature is down 5 degrees the past hour. It won't be long here as well.

Getting a few flakes mixing in with rain. I can't see the top of Buck Mountain (5K) right across Soco Rd from me. Big Bald just above Cataloochee is covered now with Moderate snow. 39 now at the house.

Just got home. Using wifi to get on the internet.  I was a victim of the Verizon outage today. Temp down to 38 with a mix but mostly rain.

Yeah I am about to pour a pitcher of beer and jump in the hot tub. Hopefully we switchover down here. Radar looks very juicy upstream for NWF. One of the better flows I have seen coming in on radar this year so let’s see if it verifies.

It's currently pouring snow at Cataloochee with very gusty winds. It's coming.

Yeah I am about to pour a pitcher of beer and jump in the hot tub. Hopefully we switchover down here. Radar looks very juicy upstream for NWF. One of the better flows I have seen coming in on radar this year so let’s see if it verifies.

I had the same idea but poured a jack and coke. It really feels like 28 out here lol.

27 and heavy snow now. Over 1" on the board.

I heard a distant low rumble of thunder about 10-15 minutes ago too. No lightning detected, but I heard it.

Stuck at 36 with rain. I feel like we've wasted a lot of moisture already.  The models were off with the cold air being in here already.

Same! Finally getting more snow than rain and it's definitely getting colder now. 35 currently with light snow mixed with some rain. Higher elevations definitely started earlier with the snow.

Absolutely dumped there for a bit but slowing down a bit now. Can't really hear any wind overhead which is weird. Temp only down to 31 but I'm sure that'll fall off soon.
