Nice, glad you got into the fun.

5.4" here making 17.2" for the season. No complaints here. I could feel the various layers of the different types of snow as I pushed the snow ruler down on the board. I had some sleet and freezing drizzle at some point. So the clean up and piles makes it seem like more since there's a dense layer in there.

Melted down to .81 and I have 6" at my stake, trying to make sense of that since it was 5.4" on the board.

I've been debating this one. I'm calling it a white Christmas as of 7am observation, and I believe official time to declare a white Christmas or not. If I did it as of right now it's 50-50.

Anyway it was much better last year with a 4 1/2 inch snowpack Christmas morning that had been freshened up on Christmas Eve with the inch and a half that fell that morning, but I digress.

Merry Christmas North and West and northeast people, where our best winters start around Thanksgiving and begrudgingly leave us in late March.

Now that I've had some time for various thighs to settle down this post just came to mind. Correct at the 7am time. Your screen name mocks the lack of proper snow measuring and you're debating if it was a white Christmas for you? You either had 1" or more or you didn't? Were you saying half your yard had more than an inch? I had spots with more than an inch but none of them were in my snow board or at my snow stake. It would be interesting to get a ruling here. @NorthShoreWx

I try to be honest, but it can be rather subjective.  More than 50% with at least an inch; is there an app for that?  If my snowboard or snow stake spot is bare, that's an argument against, although there are exceptions to every rule.  If the wind strength and direction scoured my entire property bare, but every where else is buried...calling that 0 snowcover is inaccurate.  If I have an eight foot deep drift remaining while the rest of planet earth is bare, averaging it out against the rest of Tara and calling an average of an inch is BS too.

It's a judgement call and no one who wasn't there can dispute it with any certainty.  For reference, we haven't actually had any accumulating snow here since 1978.
