HAMPTON, Va. — Monday’s winter storm delivered a sharp divide in snow totals across Hampton Roads, with neighborhoods just miles apart seeing drastically different amounts. While areas closer to the bay picked up little accumulation, communities farther north and inland measured several inches.

Great Neck and Western Branch each saw around 2 inches of snow, while Greenbrier came in just under that mark. Princess Anne recorded 1 inch, and Norfolk International Airport measured only 0.5 inch, reflecting the lighter totals along the water.

On the Peninsula, however, the storm packed a bigger punch. Denbigh reported 5.7 inches, and Menchville reached 6.9 inches, the highest total in the region. To the west, White Marsh came in at 4.5 inches, and Kilby in Suffolk recorded 3 inches.

Though the snow ended on Monday, its effects lingered into Tuesday

Those Denbigh and Menchville totals were further  up the  Peninsula from me. Im on the souther part. I estimated  3.5 here.

Models are trending towards bringing a band of snow through your area overnight/early morning. I'm probably too far west to get in on it even if it keeps trending south/west with the precip, but I hope the RIC contingent can get in on accumulating snow a third time this year:image.png.b68ae0fc88ec5ef7854e2cb6be09a8f1.png

On the HRRR, the temperature at RIC starts at 36°F when the precipitation arrives, then drops to 30°F before it ends. There is about a 1-2 hour window to accumulate before tapering off. I believe the GFS was the first model to highlight the idea of a farther southward expansion of the precip along and east of I-95 in Virginia and over towards Hampton Roads.

Beginning to changeover  now

Awesome. We lost 9° in about 2 minutes about 20 minutes ago. It was 50° in my backyard. A few minutes later it was down to 41. North winds change everything. A nice slug of moisture is building to the southwest. Might be a fun morning especially for you
