Pittsburgh, PA Thread: Late Winter/Early Spring 2015

Recommended Posts

I don't know about you guys but this summer has been especially boring for weather. I can count on one hand the number of thunderstorms we've actually gotten, and two of them were during the very early morning hours. Quite dry since the end of June. Good thing June was as wet as it was otherwise we'd have a serious drought issue.

I'm ready for fall at this point. Heat can be done. Then it isn't long until winter storm season.

Not sure if I've ever seen a +10 temp departure to start September.

Good point about June, I've been thinking the same thing.

I hope the Nino gives us a shot at some better STJ fed storms this winter. Summer did manage to salvage itself after a lousy June. I'm looking forward to some warm afternoons and crisp evenings with the smell of autumn in the air that is for sure.

After 2 months of the most boring wx in the area its good to see some action.

That probably also accounts for the fact that here we are, 3 days into fall, and this is still the " Late Winter/Early Spring 2015" thread.

(BTW, you won't find me complaining. Boring weather is generally great for ditchdigging.)

Well WPXI released their winter forecast so I guess I am back. Scott went above average for snowfall with a total of 49 inches. He said November 3inches, December 8inches with a good chance of a bigger storm at the end of the month. January will start to turn nasty and cold 13 inches. February he said will be worse with 18 inches and possible big storm due to the southern jet. March will be active with 8 inches. Honestly an above average temperature winter but some big storms would be OK with me.

Looking forward to some winter storm tracking to start up soon. :snowing:  We should have some storms with some decent stj input with the raging NINO, dare I say maybe a miller A? I know we all lament the slop storm, but I'll even take one of those if its a potent moisture laden bomb.

With potential storms coming up from the south time to put the detour up early.

I will take an average of 40 inches with 2 ten plus storms.
