I'm biased and would naturally tell everyone to purchase a subscription to increase upload room but I do agree with using free image hosting services. There's an Chrome extension I have where you simply right click an image to auto upload it to imgur which will automatically give you the BBCode snippet to paste into your post once uploaded. I don't like using 3rd party uploaders as it's just an extra few steps, and many times ends in broken links with my image lost in space somewhere. Small photos. under 60k I'm sure attachments work, but I still want to know what this issue is after all of these years where I can't just post.
