I tried to get a canopy shot, but we're still 1-2 weeks shy of peak colour and it wasn't the best day for it anyway.

I took this one more for the cloud formations. Foliage not that impressive at all.

There are some exceptions though:

The red tree in middle was so vibrant. Even though I had my camera on the foliage setting, it still didn't do it justice

Posted these in the photog section, but what the heck, ill copy and paste it here as well.

Went up north Oct 9-12th and the color was at peak, actually past peak in a few places (we are now at peak here in SE MI...will try to take some pics here this week too).

It was blustery and November-like, but the cold and clouds & rain showers didnt dampen the color, and I was also treated to some snow!

Below are pics on the drive up to Mackinac, October 9, 2012

Great pics as usual Josh. I was up in Mackinaw on the 8th. St Ignace had a nice sidewalk/tent art festival.

Great photos! Looks like you had wonderful trip. Thanks for posting.

Yep, Northern MI is the prime location if you like snow and lots of it. weatherbo made the smart move by relocating up there.

;) it was a very calculated move!

Those Falls pictures MIsnowfreak are awesome. Must have have been awesome to see snow falling again.

Took few pictures today of fall colors nearby. Hardwoods are about the only trees with vibrant color now.

Birch

Sugar maple

Japanese maple

Just returned yesterday from Otsego county. Probably more to do with the heavy stands of conifers than anything else. But it was virtually well past peak for colors.

Yesterday was driving in the Wixom/Milford area during work. Its amazing how Beautiful this time year is in Western Oakland County

The oak fields and hardwoods of the southern lower peninsula are on fire. Compared to the mostly conifer forests of the northern lower. Well past peak north of a line from Bay county. These 5 shots were taken on Saturday up in Otsego county. You can clearly see the differences in forest types and color between north and south. BTW Great pics Josh.
