Ughh... trying to figure out whether they'll last long enough to make it worth me driving ~20 minutes to get out of light pollution.
PottercountyWXobserver
I looked and couldn't see anything. It is clear outside too and I have a latitude of 42°N. Is it still ongoing?

Yeah I bet if you were outside of the city you'd see them. I bet if I was at work at the Airport I'd probably be able to see them.

Ian
I thought I could see a glow to the NW but a 30 sec exposure was unconvincing. I gave up.

BeauDodson
Best northern lights I have ever witnessed. Last time I saw anything close to this was back in the 1970s when I was a kid. On the exact same farm land I am on tonight! Just amazing Never witnessed curtains here until now! 30-40 second exposures

Amped
I guess I'll just use the photoshop High Dynamic range if I see all black. Hitting 350 south to jefferson, pretty rural out that way.
BeauDodson
I guess I'll just use the photoshop High Dynamic range if I see all black. You just have to let the camera get the right exposure - they should show up - they showed up between 10 seconds and 60 seconds on mine. Best was 30-40 seconds. Wish I could get rid of the neighbors bright outdoor lights. Hate those things.
PottercountyWXobserver
So Jealous, ugh. Are these lights relatively low to the horrizon? Cause I'm dead smack in the mountains, and most observations are coming from flat areas.

Indystorm
Nice reddish hue to the northern and nw sky as I went out into the country south of Elkhart unlike the green I usually observe when I've been fortunate enough to see them on previous occasions. Still not the best for me, though. That was in Kentland in a Nov. of a decade ago.
