on_wx
The station is live on about the tornado warning now.. Yeah, they have been on and off reading the warning The hook/possible tornado is about in this area now 3km or so northwest of Harmattan near 22/27 intersection http://maps.google.c...179.91,,0,-1.19 New radar update shows 60-67dbz throughout the tip of the possible hook. Would be nice if we had better radar to work with... and maybe even some updates from EC/storm reports etc.
andyhb
I think the question here is if this will lead to a bunch of junk convection across the primed areas for tomorrow.
on_wx
The tornado warning warning has been continued for northern Mountainview County, no update in the warning text discussion, but the supercell looks to be either weakening or cycling.

Derek30
Supercell starting to take on that "kidney bean" shape. Looks like Red Deer is going to get raked.

Derek30
That thing has been alive forever. It's alive and kicking, for sure. A storm chaser's dream. Only moving 15-20 km/h. You could follow that thing all evening!

on_wx
Hard to tell, but looks like the hook went over the western side of Innisfail or areas near Westwood Court or Niobe. Tornado warnings for Red Deer County continue

Derek30
Going to be a very close call for Red Deer. Supercell should be impacting them right now. Went to Red Deer for an Air Cadet camp 8 years ago. Fond memories of that place. Hoping for the best!

TimChgo9
I'd also start watching Sunday IA/MN/WI/IL... I was wondering what the potential for the GL was going to be going into the Sunday/Monday, time frame. A system this strong, has to have some effect father east in the coming days. Derek30
1,500-2,000 J/KG of CAPE in that area today. Goes to show that you don't need a big amount of instability for a legitimate supercell.

We will be dealing with borderline deep layer shear as per usual at this time of year but probably strong instability also as usual.

Derek30
That is actually quite a bit of instability. Yeah, I guess. Seen a lot of 3,000-5,000 J/KG up here the past couple of weeks, so maybe that clouded my judgement.
