  1. You have a lot of faith. It seems that every model that was upgraded has in fact been a downgrade all while we are supposedly more technologically advanced. Watching my forecast for the past 2 weeks is like the proverbial carrot and the mule. It keeps showing cold weather ahead but keeps pushing it into the future. .
  2. Too bad we don't have access to the old GFS. Like rolling back the OS on your computer or firmware to the earlier version that actually works.
  3. I'm 48 years old, my parents are 70 and my grandmother is 98 - Never have they heard of school being dismissed early due to thunderstorms. I'm pretty sure we have all gone through thunderstorms WORSE than what's forecasted for today. Our culture is just over the top in regards to fear. At this point we should all NEVER leave the house. So you post about the tornado - Now what if students died at HOME from the tornado instead of school? It's unhealthy to live this way.
  4. Never in my life have I seen this - My kids school just called and are dismissing early based on the severe weather forecasts. We are a WEAK people, pathetic.
  5. I work for the Department of Environmental Protection here in NYC and I can tell you that the water is MUCH cleaner than it has been in almost 100 years. In the mid 80's the North River Waste Water Treatment Plant was the final Treatment Plant to come online and ended the practice of NYC expelling waste water (human waste, soaps, detergents, grease etc.) from entering the waterways. As we monitor the waterways we can see aquatic life returning to the area which we have not seen in many years. I do take exception to the "science being settled" comment as shut down of debate is not true science and therefore becomes a narrative.
  6. Your predictions were no better. You called for this storm to trend west and the southeast ridge to pump up warm air. So in the end you were wrong, I wouldn’t be bragging, I would go back into hiding until next season.
  7. Jim Cantore just happens to be broadcasting live from that area. Been snowing since 8:45 all surfaces covered here. Wind is howling as well.
  8. I’m under a WWA for 2-5”. NWS trying to correct for dropping the ball on Wednesday. Looks like Snowman19 predictions of this storm going west and the southeast ridge pumping up warm air are out the window. He has 24 hours for things to change back in his favor.
  9. I believe the NAM showed this with our sleet storm a few weeks back and gave everyone false hope. Not buying anything until it’s over.
  10. 3” here in Lagrangeville as well. Just finished snow blowing the driveway. You would think my 16 year old would do it since it was a snow day up here.
  11. So with all that being said WHY can’t the models pick up on these details? They seem rather relevant to modeling/forecasting. I’m not disagreeing- I’m just ignorant of how these models work.
  12. Finally got a WWA for 1-4” and 2-6 way north of me. NWS can’t even get things right the day of a storm. TWC app had me at 1” for the day and haven’t changed their forecast.
  13. Would be nice for us Folks N&W to finally cash in. I wouldn’t mind a legit snowstorm after all the garbage we got all season.
  14. A bit early for us up North to start giving grades but what the hell. I would give it a C- for me up here. Over 30 days of snow cover from January to February but very low snow totals at a clip. I still have solid sleet cover as of this morning, should be gone by Sunday. Hoping for one MASSIVE storm for us.
  15. I just had ice on my car and the roads were icy but no snow near me and I am over in Beekman. I did see snow on some cars going down to the city for my commute.
  16. Wow Craig Allen has been at this for almost 40 years
  17. What is a normal La Nina? I'm not calling you out but just saying that we have maybe 100-150 years worth of weather data to go by and in the grand scheme of things its such a small window of time to call anything normal. Maybe I'm wrong. Just my 2 cents.
  18. Took a brief walk on my property this morning - my sleet pack is literally a glacier which can support my 200+ pounds of weight without even caving in. Haven't experienced that since i was a kid.
  19. Finally snowing. After the storm is over. Lol so much for 8-12” then 6”-8 then 4”-8” then 2-4” finally settling at 3” of pure sleet. No issues using the snowblower.
  20. Took out the Quad for a spin. Was like driving on marbles with all the sleet. Drifting heaven.
