  1. The car read -4° 5am this morning. I drove to the city and didnt reach zero until Yorktown Heights on the Taconic which i have never seen. Usually it's significantly colder at the house and temps rise about 15 degrees before I get to the job. The temp read 5° in Harlem which is impressive.
  2. The heat island effect wasn't as significant as it is today. Between transmission lines, steam lines, water and sewer lines, asphalt, concrete, steel and glass buildings makes it that much harder to get below zero as it did years ago.
  3. Warmth will be closer to normal but not a torch. If we do it will be transient - February averages looking to be below normal for the month.
  4. Measured 1.5” of snow from overnight. I have 13.5” of snow on the ground. All powder too, a stark contrast to the icebergs down in the city. .
  5. For those who are complaining about the cold try working on a barge or on the dock on the Hudson today. Today my men were on the dock for 45 min trying to tie up the barge and offload to it. Unfortunately with the strong winds and ice the vessel had trouble getting close enough to the dock. Eventually they were successful. .
  6. Just measured 13.5” as of 5 pm. .
  7. I’m at work in the city and won’t be back until about 4 pm. Definitely deeper than my snow boots as I was loading up on firewood yesterday. Probably 12” and I eyeballed around 1.5” of new snow on the car when I left for work around 5 am. .
  8. Whats going on with the weather for the week?
  9. I promise you I have way more than 13" of snow on the ground .
  10. NWS dropped the cold weather advisory for my area. .
  11. What happened going into Phase 8 or Phase 1?
  12. Should of had TriPol make the thread.
  13. Meanwhile 2 weeks ago some on this board decided to cancel winter. .
  14. No sleet up here. Pure Powder with a high temp of 8°. .
  15. Is the low off the coast cranking up? .
  16. Whats going on with the Low Pressure developing off the coast?

  20. Excuse my ignorance but what are the chances this falls as virga since I am assuming the air will be bone dry? I can remember a storm or two where we had the precip overhead but never made it to the ground for the duration.
  21. I’m not worried but I have seen it go from single digits to rain in the 80s. It can happen. .
