  1. Glad you made it. Not surprised there are so many stuck. Those kind of conditions can quickly overwhelm the best drivers.
  2. I'm deeply skeptical, but I'd love for the HRRR to verify. A bit of snow tonight and frigid temps.
  3. How cold do you think we get tonight? Some of the high res is pretty impressive for no snow cover.
  4. Yeah, I hear ya. That’s one of the things about wx that’s so interesting. One area can get smoked, and very nearby another area is meh. Until this morning’s wind woke me up, the only thing I followed with this was the front. I think that’ll be a cool experience. We’ll see.
  5. I think for CT broadly this is a significant/major event given some of the wind and coastal flooding. It’s not over yet, either, with the Arctic front. Don’t think it’s memorable (yet) though. Memorable is hard to do. To me that denotes an all-timer with a defining feature. Buffalo? That’s memorable.
  6. Definitely higher. My anemometer isn’t properly sited. I’m not sure how I’d get it on the roof and and how I’d get it on there with the station on the other side of my backyard.
  7. For inland wind, it was impressive for a while. Much quieter now. If I had an anemometer properly sited it probably would have been near 50 at peak. Lines up with HFD’s recent obs I think.
  8. So much for not posting. Ripping wind with a max gust of 30 mph at the wx station. Winds have died down recently. An absolutely MASSIVE power flash took power for a few minutes and another huge surge brought it back. Incredible.
  9. Nothing says “Christmas” like my holiday lights shimmering in 39° rain. Son of Grinch has arrived. My one and only observation before the Arctic front arrives in this godforsaken event.
  10. No. I’ve been casually following but it’s Christmas and it’s the first one since my dad passed. Historic event out there. Historic period for them. Glad I got to partake in at least one epic event. I’ll enjoy my snowless and frozen landscape at home with the people I love, and I’ll be happy knowing I had the ability to give my family a good Christmas.
