  1. Merry Christmas from the GFS lol. All we need is a Euro medium range nuke of yore for depressed weenies to go from snapping at annoying in-laws at sunrise service to belting out Christmas carols hand in hand with grins on faces and hope in hearts this afternoon.
  2. 100% December may be lost but I look at the 500mb progression on the ensembles and I feel pretty optimistic that another rat isn’t walking through the door. For the record I’m not on board with an AN snow year. Unlike last year, I think the windows will be real particularly after Jan 15 and produce just enough for a near normal season here. If we were staring down a puke pac on the ensembles through mid January I’d feel much different. I know weenies (myself included) want the model cinema and dopamine drip of a tangible threat, but if we learned ANYTHING FROM LAST YEAR it’s that blindly chasing op fantasy storms is an exercise in futility. Merry Christmas, everyone.
  3. Merry Christmas, fellow weenies!
  4. Par for the course. I absolutely agree, but it doesn’t necessarily have to happen on our time scale. I mean we allude to it often but sometimes these things are decadal cycles, particularly the macro “lucky” streaks.
  5. I didn’t realize this was a thing.
  6. 2013-14 is my favorite season by far. From January on it was wonderful. Meanwhile 2015 was an epic disaster. That’s how The Panic Room™ was established.
  7. FWIW it’s not fake here, so far this is my coldest day since February. Sitting at 30.3° at 1pm is hard here these days lol.
  8. Still below 30° here. Good cold day.
  9. Listen to the sound of that wind. I need to get up there.
  10. Highest CT River crest at Hartford since 2011 from what I can see.
  11. Can you do me a favor and just photoshop Connecticut out of images like this? Make Springfield a coastal community for all I care but these images are inflicting emotional distress.
  12. All in good fun. It is definitely reasonable. I was never on the AN snow side of things. I think we end up near to slightly below normal snow with winter beginning in earnest mid-January. Anything near normal here is a tremendous victory given the horror show of the last half decade (minus one year).
  13. Picked mine up from the dry cleaner. Ready for January.
  14. That’s how you ring in the new year.
  15. Yeah. @das it’s good to hear from you though! Long way from my time in DC. I’m good, just working all the time. I’m in CT now, where I only have two T’s on the season so far haha. Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.
  16. I still think it’s a little too far out to be called a grinch, but obviously if the grid is down through Christmas it’s a grinch lol. Best of luck up there Maine crew.
  17. We can like big wind and snow. Look at how this thread took off when it started getting interested. We obviously don’t hope for people to get hurt yada yada…
  18. This was a good one. Makes me want to get an anemometer on the roof.
  19. Hindsight is 20/20 obviously but I had only punted a winter once before—that was in late January. Playing that game with heights out west I just knew we were cooked. That said, this is an entirely different year with an entirely different look. We’re on schedule thus far for a solid season despite losing most of December IMO.
  20. Meanwhile we drizzle in the valley. Looking forward to more dry slotting in January
