Dry air has been the theme of the season. Francine only flushed it out at the very last second and then she blasted right before landfall. She was a good mixer of winds to the surface in LA. Could see this tack on some strength on that final approach that mixes down winds more optimally.

I’ve driven that coast line and also driven the US 19/27/98 all the way to Destin, it’s low lying, quite poor areas that are very spread out population wise. I drove through there over a year after Michael and most of the damage off the immediate roads was almost untouched.

Yep, those spots down near Laurel and Osprey are low lying near Venice Beach. Some sit below sea level. I was just there this week, got out of town this morning.

I think we’re going to see her ramp up fairly nicely the next 4-6 hours.

Pretty concerning for Valdosta if they are on the eastern eyewall. It’s going to be hauling through there with bigtime winds. If this gets to major today might be a landmark event there.

Looking at Key West radar since we have the eastern eye wall in range, it’s more or less moving due N at the moment.

Yeah about 15 miles southeast from 0z, basically Steinhatchee. If this does LF there, the surge in cedar key could be devastating for sure. Even folks up the US19 coast from Tampa get a lot of water on that track and approach.

Several of the wunderground stations in Baltimore already reporting obscene #'s (104,105). Obviously those are likely high, but it's absolutely UHI hell there today.

I could see today being a banner heat day for the area. Some 103/104’s going to come out of somewhere. Feels like the early 2010’s

Impressive impacts as many have stated, definitely more like what you'd see with a cat 2 LF. Also going to echo that if this had even 12 more hours, (lets not talk about 24), the wind impacts to Houston might have more on par with Ike level+.

The wife has mentioned one of her true bucket list items includes seeing the pyramids and going to Egypt. 2027, the max eclipse (totality is 6+ mins) is over Luxor, Egypt. That one is already in our plans

Sadly didn't make it to Ohio since the weather was unclear heading in and driving 3 kids 5+ hours was a tough idea. Going to see 93% here in SCPA so should be a good experience nonetheless...maybe even get a little darker.

Snowing here again now. Pretty fun day. The squall that came through earlier this afternoon when we were grabbing dunkin in the boro was sweet. Drove back through Blue ridge summit and got to enjoy it twice.

The band up in NC PA streaming through just north of Lock Haven is impressive. SSW issued and honestly some training there, can imagine localized couple inch totals will come in there.
