  1. It looks like the upper level low is beginning to pick up some good moisture. The radar is really filling in in north Georgia and northwestern S.C.
  2. Got the dusting the locals said we would get. Getting light snow right now. Sure wish the upper level low would get wound up, but it’s not happening.
  3. GSP NWS calling for thundersnow!
  4. Ended up with 4.8" at in my rain gauge. Need a couple of weeks to dry things out before the crane arrives to take out a few trees damaged from the tropical storm.
  5. Surprised to wake up to see 1.55 inches in the rain gauge. Nice. We needed it. Although, I have to admit, mushrooms are popping up everywhere, especially those sticky ones. Maybe a couple of weeks of dry weather could rid of them.
  6. Three days ago Chris Justice on WYFF talked about the possiblity of strong storms coming in around 1:00 on Friday, saying he thought the chances were at about 80%. Well, he was spot on. It's been raining for about 1 1/2 hours at my house. So far, we've gotten 1.45" and it's still coming down. I understand it's flooding in parts of Taylors. Temp down to 71.
  7. Getting a bad storm right now, and it looks like it might last a while.
  8. Nice 45 minute rain dumped 0.45”. Temp dropped from 94 to 77.
  9. Chris Justice is talking about the pivot too, hitting the Greenville area sometime between 7:00 - 10:00. Do the models show the pivot?
  10. Heaviest snow of the day right now. Sticking to roofs and evergreen trees. Ground to warm to stick to even grassy surfaces. Cedrick on WYFF showed us ground temp is 49 degrees.
  11. Huge flakes at my house. Took a drive over Altamont Rd. (Paris Mtn.) up to 2000 ft. Snowing hard.
  12. 39 with sleet beginning to mix in with the rain. More sleet than rain. My elevation is 1077.2 ft. *Update a few minutes later. Snow beginning to mix in too. The changeover to snow begins. Based on the radar and drop in temps, I expect at a couple of inches of snow on the grassy surfaces. Going to be fun to watch.
  13. Please, no snow in Asheville during the SoCon basketball tournament.
  14. January gone, already? That’s funny. My calendar says it’s January 5. Seriously folks, get off the ledge. Things can change overnight. You guys depend too much on worthless long term computer models. Rarely are the models right.
  15. Not trying to be political at all. This is funny. https://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/trump-signs-executive-order-giving-him-control-of-weather
  16. Not sure where to post this. John Cessarich is retiring. https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/life/2019/08/21/wyff-news-4-s-john-cessarich-announces-retirement/2074076001/
  17. I’m sick of cold and wet. Bring on spring!
  18. And I’ll be happy with my 8” near Paris Mtn. State Park!
  19. GSP NWS just issued this Special Weather Statement. ...WINTER WEATHER POSSIBLE ACROSS THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA THIS WEEKEND... Confidence is increasing that a winter storm will develop this weekend across the region as low pressure tracks across the deep south and moves off the southeast coast on Sunday. The storm has the potential to produce a significant amount of snow across parts of western North Carolina, the northern Upstate of South Carolina, and the mountains of northeast Georgia. Precipitation could begin as early as daybreak Saturday over southwest North Carolina and northeast Georgia, spreading northeast through the day. Conditions may deteriorate from southwest to northeast during Saturday afternoon and evening across the area north of Interstate 85. The precipitation is most likely to fall as snow across most of the mountains, with a heavy accumulation possible Saturday night and Sunday. Snow amounts are still uncertain, but amounts in excess of six inches are possible across the mountains, foothills, and northwest Piedmont of North Carolina. Some sleet and freezing rain could mix in across the Little Tennessee River Valley and along the I-85 corridor. The potential also exists for a corridor of significant ice accumulation across the area south of Interstate 85 Saturday night and Sunday morning. The wintry precipitation may persist across parts of the region through Monday. People with travel plans across the area this weekend should monitor the latest weather forecasts. Future developments will determine when and where a Winter Storm Watch will be issued
  20. Chris and John do a great job for our area. Quite frankly, I’m tired of those that say they hype too much and fail often. We are lucky to have these two in the Upstate.
  21. This one reminds me of the storm of 1988.
