  1. While it's not the below we would all love to see, having basically 30 year norm temps for Jan-March is probably the best we could hope for. Would be interesting to revisit that map after the winter and see how it verifies. It seems too smooth, too even to me. It's hard not to think we don't see some ups and downs with at least one month being significantly above.
  2. Florence to Fayetteville / I-95 special? As others have said it is just good to have potential. Definitely want to see other models key in on some similar features by mid week.
  3. Yeah that's usually the case. Either the cold doesn't work down until the low gets strong enough to force it down, which doesn't happen until farther east (so the precip to the west is rain), or in a coastal low the precip doesn't make it far enough inland. Either way, eastern areas fare way better.
  4. We're so funny. Friday: Pattern looks good, a lot to be excited about. Saturday: Pattern stinks, might as well cancel winter, what does winter 2021 look like? Sunday: Man oh man, all the players on the field, heading for fun times! Monday: ?
  5. I'll start a gofundme to buy that low pressure a ticket to New Orleans!
  6. With such an active STJ moisture will not be the problem (it usually isn't). But, despite the general coolness so far, there hasn't been any semblance of cold, outside of the November front, and we'll, that was November. If we can't get any real cold to come down, the "below normal" temps and generous moisture won't deliver anymore snow than we've seen so far, just more of the same. We'll see what happens with the MJO heading to more favorable phases and go on hoping the NOA actually goes in the red for a bit, but somehow we'll have to see some cold if we we want frozen. It just hasnt been there yet, but lots of time to go.
  7. Wow, can somebody turn off the faucet please! This incessant rain is obnoxious.
  8. Just like clockwork, its clear all day then clouds roll in just before sunset.
  9. After last night, SC and FL now the only two states in the continental US that has not seen snow yet. Winter is SOOO pathetic here. Nothing on the horizon for us either; this Friday system could spit a little ice North of 11 and east of Cleveland but that's nothing. My only straw to grasp at is at least we're colder than CAE.
  10. Radar shows snow all the way to north side of BHM currently. Snow in AL, GA, TN, NC tonight! SC left out as usual. At least I'm not in CAE, got up to 80 today!
  11. So nice to see some possibilities showing up on the models, even if they're total clowns. As usual, they disapper as time gets closer. I've noticed that pretty much everything fantasy modeled for the upstate (excepting the crazy GFS) is zr, not snow. Will this be a zr year? I hope not but we're probably due. Regardless, it kinda feels like this is going to be an I-40 north winter for any snow. Somehow I can see that area (and mtns of course) having a really good season with the I-85 crowd being skunked.
  12. LOL. That map is so ridiculous. Not only that, but any time a map shows GSP being the snowfall bullseye FOR THE ENTIRE NATION, you know it's total BS right off the bat!
  13. "Show me the heart unfettered by foolish dreams and I'll show you a happy man."
  14. A 1043 high over the MN/Iowa border should result in a cold press MUCH farther South than central Missouri. The whole northern fringe of this should be snow. This tells me either the model is completely off, or the there is very marginal cold to work with. Remember, cold is ALWAYS the first and biggest concern in our area; espcially outside of elevation.
  15. Wow what a cutoff! Mack is in the 18th century, I'm cleaing up some limbs, and Burrell has a wet deck.
  16. Be fun to have a possibility to track, love winter! On the other hand, a major ice storm would be like kissing my sister.
  17. No snow for most on GFS runs, but at least there's no real warmth. If I cant get snow, I'll take seasonable with no torch.
  18. Well I'd love to see some fun this winter but being honest, I have NO realistic hope of cold or snow for my area. No matter which index or cycle we hang our hats on every year, none of them seem to result in a good setup for the 85 and south crowd anymore. I can get a couple of sloppy inches from a Miller B changeover but that is literally the only set up where I can get anything at all, and there's no such thing as Miller As or ULLs that deliver anymore. My son has been asking about when we'll see snow and I'm trying not to break his heart, but I have no confidence anymore. It's kinda like being a Gamecock fan (which I am). You keep thinking the stars will align and the odds will be in your favor eventually, but... What I'd give for one more of these setups!
  19. https://www.wyff4.com/article/watch-john-cessarich-on-his-1st-day-and-last-day-at-wyff-news-4/30022821 Pretty cool. His first forecast was back with Carl Clark and Annete Estes. Carol (Anderson) was a field reporter then. Man, look at that background, not even a pic or anything.
  20. Living dangerously there man. If the Gfs find out about each other you better be somewhere else! They don't usually like sharing.
