  2. Quite the difference between here (51 and raining) and Roanoke 72 and partly cloudy. That is probably 30 miles as the crow flies (long as it goes straight).
  3. Welcoming February to the new 'spring of the Mid-Atlantic'
  4. Awesome. Sounds like they will have fun. And yep on the hosing of ticket prices here in USA
  5. Well... NOTHING says February like a good thundershower before 10 am. Sheesh Probably had 5 or 6 good long rumbles and one solid hit and crack.
  6. LOL, cloudy and 41.7/19.5 here at the moment, although glancing at satellite we may break out of the clouds shortly. What it IS is windy, WNW at 11 gusting to 20 mph. Maybe that 2 inches of cold 33 degree rain with a bit of sleet cooled the ground here lol.
  7. Same here this morning, several folks did the slip 'n slide coming to work.
  8. Set a new daily rainfall record of 1.78 inches. Sleet mixed in at times. Temp hung right at 32.5-33.5 all day. Total precip for the storm was 2.04 inches. Doing a little math, a sloppy 6 or 7 to 1 ratio if snow would have gave 12 to 14 inches.... what a terrible winter this has been.
  9. IDK, 33.2 and heavy rain with a few sleet pellets thrown in seems pretty trashy...
  10. Rain/sleet mix and 33.8/32.0. Seems I've seen this somewhere before.
  11. Set another 'warm minimum' for the date of 43.4 degrees, breaking 1990's 39 degree reading.
  12. Although the highest wind I recorded so far today has been 39 mph, still had quite a few 2-4" branches broken out of trees.
  13. Don't worry, we'll have some -20/-15 days in April and May to compensate
  14. Shattered a 'warm minimum' this morning, 43.2 degrees vs the old mark of 38 from 2005. Sheesh
  15. My numbers for Jan 2023 Total precip for the month was 2.30 inches vs a normal 2.94 inches, a - 0.64 below normal. The wettest day was the 26th with 0.63 inches falling. There were 14 days with measurable, 8 days with a 'T' and 9 dry days. Total snowfall for the month was 0.2 inches vs a normal of 5.8 inches, a -5.6 inches below normal and ties the record for lowest recorded for the month with 1993, 2015 and 2006. There was one day with measurable, 10 days with a 'T' and 20 snowless days. There were zero days with measurable snow on the ground at 7 am recording time, tying 1993 and 2006. Averaged high for the month was 48.2 degrees vs a normal of 42.0 degrees, a +6.2 degrees above normal and slides into 3rd place behind 1990's 48.9 degree and 2006's 48.5 degree reading. The warmest day recorded was 70.0 degrees on the 4th. Averaged low was 30.9 degrees vs a normal of 22.4 degrees, a +8.5 degrees above normal and sets a new warmest record for the month. Coldest recorded temp was 16.6 degrees on the 15th. Overall averaged temp for the month was 39.5 degrees vs a normal of 32.2 degrees, a +7.3 degrees above normal and just slides into 2nd warmest behind 1990's 39.7 degree mark. The highest wind recorded was 37 mph on the 21st. Overall a VERY warm and 'damp' month. Although we finished under on precip it seemed to be cloudy and drizzly or flurrying almost every day. Many new records, most listed above, new record warmest low temp, tied least snow, tied least snow on ground and a new 'warm minimum' set on the 19th.
  16. Hey, only 6 events to cross the 1" mark for the season....sheesh! 12/16 0.2 12/22 0.1 12/24 0.1 12/28 0.1 01/09 0.2 02/02 0.4 Total 1.1
  17. LOL, 0.4 of an inch on ground here, win! Hey, least it was sorta a surprise. NWS had a special winter statement out for freezing drizzle and sleet and we got snow. Last couple times they have called for snow and issued winter weather advisories we got nuthin'!
  18. I was up there in 2007 or 2008 and it was -11 with a 30-40 mph wind, I went into the lodge and stayed after an hour, the kids (well early teens) stayed out practically all day! BTW the only thing that 'closed' was the gondola due to the winds for about 3 hours.
