We ran $300-$400 water AND power bills for D/J/F for several years when he was making snow. EDIT- and that was 18-22 years ago.

Well, at least the fog machine stayed turned off overnight.... currently PC (high cirrus) and 33.1/24.3.
-
High of 62.5 degrees here today with a mostly sunny sky, just a few clouds. However, ruined by 20-25 mph gusts in afternoon. Currently 57.8/26.7, very dry air. Wind WNW at 9 gusting to 19 mph at 5:40 pm.

For second morning in a row dense fog here, freezing this morning and deck is slick. Currently 29.8 degrees after a 28.9 degree low.
-
28.92 here as of 6am this morning for the year, 24.10 fell thru 8/10, so 4.82 over the past 3 months.

Between ob time and what is in gauge now, I have 0.40 so far. A nice welcome relief to the past 3 weeks of dryness. Temp was 50.3 at 6 am, down to 44.4 now. Nice cam views from 'Shoe and Canaan.

Gonna tell on myself, but it IS a funny story. We rented a car last week, Ford Edge, it was a Titanium edition with all the bells and whistles. Pulled into a gas station to fill up and left it running, went to clean the windshield and... YEP, across came those auto wipers pretty as you please lol. I got wet, wife was in passenger seat laughing her head off. I remembered earlier in the day that they came on in mist/light rain as we crossed Oklahoma, but NEVER thought about it again until that incident.

After almost three months I can HIGHLY recommend lol.

Yep, Catalooche used to make snow the first night it got close to 32 and they'd open ONE slope for a day or two to claim 'earliest opening on the east coast', son went there EVERY time they did that for about 7-8 years lol. That is a 5 hour drive from here. I looked and found the 13 season opener (it is on the side of the fridge, why I don't know, he has been gone since summer of '14), 11/14/13. I think one year they opened like October 5th!!

Made it to 73 about an hour ago, in and out of clouds all day, but clouds have filled in completely and looking more like rain in last hour, down to 71.5 degrees.

My son got a new snowboard about every year or at least every other, the old one became the trash board to start and finish season on. Anything over 2 inches was fair game especially early in the season.

Did some digging, the CO-OPs that were around then from this area reported 14-18 inches, and lows in the single digits to near 0.
-
My numbers for the month of October 2023. Total rainfall was 1.40 inches vs a normal of 2.70 inches, a -1.30 inches below normal. Greatest rainfall was on the 21st with 0.56 falling. There were 8 days with measurable, 2 days with a 'T' and 21 dry days. There was zero snowfall for the month vs a 0.1 inch average, a -0.1 below normal. The averaged high temp was 68.3 degrees vs a normal of 66.9 degrees, a + 1.4 degrees above normal. The warmest temp recorded was 80.0 degrees on the 30th. The averaged low temp was 43.6 degrees vs a normal of 41.5 degrees, a +2.1 degrees above normal. The coldest temp recorded was 32.3 degrees on the 24th. The overall averaged temp was 55.9 degrees vs a normal of 54.2 degrees, a + 1.7 degrees above normal. The greatest wind recorded was 38 mph on the 22nd. No new records to report. Overall, a warm and dry month. Records date to Oct 1979.

Gonna update this, there are RECORDS!! lol The high of 38.8 degrees breaks the old mark of 40 degrees from 1993, and the low of 18.8 also breaks the record from 1993 of 20 degrees. The 17.9 degree reading at 7:50 am has already set a new minimum for tomorrow, breaking 1991's 22 degree reading.
-
I saw a '2' there earlier. It was 18.8 here at 7 am report time, dropped a bit more and bottomed out at 17.9 at 7:50 am. Now up to a 'warm' 30.2 degrees. Looks like Canaan and 'Shoe are getting ready for the season with all the guns running!
-
First official freeze AND flakes of the season here. Currently 29.8/13.2 and cloudy. Had flurries between 4:00 and 4:30 am, yes, I was up lol.
-
LOL, that would give Snowshoe and Canaan a good start...
-
I'm sitting at 1.40 for the month, only because I got lucky on the 21st with a small training line of showers that day that dropped 0.56. No where NEAR records though, Oct of 2000 was my driest month ever at only 0.02 inches, for the entire month. 2nd place goes to Sept of 1985 with 0.10 and 3rd is Nov of 2001 with 0.31 inches.

Warmer this morning at 42 degrees, yesterday I was outside working in the yard and had a shadow go by me, looked up and TWO bald eagles were circling around looking/hunting. One was down low, maybe 50-75 foot off the ground, other was up higher, maybe 200-300 foot. Watched them for 10-15 minutes head off slowly to the NE in slow circles. First time I've seen bald eagles here on the property in all the years I've been here.
