  1. Currently 27.6/26.7 with frost and freezing fog, visibility under a mile. High yesterday was 47.8. Great weather!!
  2. Nice to see the whiteness up at 'Shoe and in Highland county this am......it is getting closer!!!
  3. DCA: -1.6 NYC: -1.8 BOS: -1.2 ORD: -1.9 ATL: -1.2 IAH: -1.3 DEN: -0.9 PHX: +1.5 SEA: +1.6 Snow later EDITED for snow totals 11/18 DCA: 20.6 NYC: 42.5 BOS: 54.1 ORD: 50.6 DTW: 52.7 BUF: 100.9 DEN: 69.8 BTV: 97.4 SEA: 9.6
  4. 0.35 for the day, 6.10 for the month of October, almost 6 inches more than September.......
  5. Amazing! Congrats Nationals for NOT having home field advantage.....
  6. So DCA is gonna sink below sea level over the winter???
  7. Clearing here now, but earlier it was pouring! About 3/4 inch total. After hanging in the 50's with sprinkles and drizzle yesterday, heavy rain started after midnight and temp rose into low 60's.
  8. In grabbing a bit of lunch, awesome day to be working outside, currently double nickels and partly cloudy, but clouds are increasing.
  9. Much warmer morning in upper 30's here, about 30% cloud cover and a SSW very light breeze. Temps actually went up a couple degrees since midnight.
  10. I broke the 32 barrier about an hour ago, so first freeze of the year here (barely). Currently 31.8/31.0 with a clear sky, saw the ISS go by just before 7am!
  11. So....including the 0.38 that fell today that will be added in the am, I am at 4.99 for the month now. Crazy after how dry it was the previous 75 days going back from end of Sept to mid July when I had 3.27 during a VERY hot period. After the weekend I will be way over 5 inches for October, and the total for July was 4.78, 90% falling pre mid month. Feast or famine.
  12. If I remember right, they had a write up about issues nationwide with the pedestal on the radars and they (NOAA/NWS) were replacing them as they went bad. I'll see if I can dig back thru old articles and find.... This is the closest I could find, but maybe if I keep searching lol..... https://www.weather.gov/rnk/WeatherRadarDown
  13. Blacksburg's went thru the 'pedestal' issue two years ago, they DID have to replace.
  14. Sky is lightening up and drizzle is backing off so I'd say we are about done here. Looks .20-.22 in the gauge from eye-balling it from inside so a storm total around 1.30 looks good.
  15. We haven't even made it to December yet
  16. Well, 1.07 emptied out of the CoCoRaHS gauge at 7 am and it is still raining at a fairly heavy rate. I can see what looks like the back edge down near Blacksburg/Radford and heading this way, but I may be in the 1.5 storm total range by time all this ends. Not bad for most models minus the NAM giving me +-0.25 two days ago........ Currently rain and 47.7/47.0, wind NNE at 5mph. EDIT- I see several 2"+ reports down in the New River Valley on CoCoRaHS
  17. From radar and what I have falling, looks like everything is west of the models?.......
  18. 1st frost of year, and a pretty heavy one at that. JUST stayed above freezing though, 32.7 degrees.
  19. Ended up with 0.87 for the event. Nice rain that had a chance to go into the ground instead of over it. Quite breezy overnight and this morning. 43.2/33.9 with NW 14G24.
  20. Snowing at the 'Shoe! http://www.resortcams.com/webcams/snowshoe-boathouse/
  21. Hey! They fell from the sky at some point too!
  22. Everyone is welcome, said yesterday or the day before not to worry, I am on vacation that week and had lots of outdoor stuff to do.........
