  1. Comparing this run to August's, it's a little cooler here in south central PA in Dec & Jan and a little warmer in Feb. In typical Nina fashion, unfortunately, it's a dry'ish run for much of the east. Verbatim, January looks like our best shot for wintry weather, which is typical here in Niñas. Really looks like a congrats NNE and Midwest sorta year.
  2. Don't know if anyone saw it, but JB says warm and not snowy in the east this winter citing the MJO in phases 4-6. But really, there are more reasons than just the MJO on paper. But, the hurricane season was supposed to be a blockbuster and we see how that's gone so far.
  3. It's like instantly adding 1 or 2 posts per day to his limit, assuming he's still limited. For the record, I don't see why he couldn't be allowed to post in here without limit. I don't know what's gone on in the other forums, but everyone in here seems to get along reasonably well considering the different viewpoints. But then again, I got suspended last winter for 6 days because of a political post, so maybe I'm not the one to ask! LOL
  4. Oh, I'd love to be in your location. Only thing that will save me is my interior location and 600' asl. That said, 07/08 still stunk here.
  5. Sadly, 07/08 isn't much better than 22/23 imby and would go down as an F instead of F-.
  6. I usually root for your forecasts, but I hope that one backfires on you. Lol
  7. OT. For the old f@rts in the forum like me who fondly remember the 76/77 & 77/78 winters, this is a great video. The guy who did it has others, but I haven't checked them out. A lot of wx stuff you'll probably know but a decent presentation about the big events of those 2 winters.
  8. Eps Control runs for storms have always been too cold and snowy imby. I think they are run for "business purposes" for their vendors to create excitement in the weenie wx world. I know that sounds awfully cynical, but let's face it, a decent amount of money is spent by weenies for modeling and it can't be good for business to not throw a bone or 2 for the weenies.
  9. Funny thing is, this winters forecast is similar to this year's hurricane forecast with everything looking slam dunk. Something to keep in mind for anyone doing this winters forecast.
  10. Honestly, this year's hurricane forecasts were forefront in my mind when I made that post, but I believe it's true for other forecasts as well. There are just too many smaller scale features that can really screw things up.
  11. Tried to tell you a month ago there was a lot of evidence pointing against a slam-dunk Niña. Yet, it can still change. Early call accurate forecasts on any weather phenomina rely solely on luck imho.
  12. Idk, when you look at previous seasons that started this high, they all went on to finish AN.
  13. Monthly on the 5th. Here's a link to all free monthly products. https://charts.ecmwf.int/?facets={"Product type"%3A[]%2C"Parameters"%3A[]%2C"Range"%3A["Long (Months)"]%2C"Type"%3A[]}
  14. Probably just depends on Tropical activity. No tropics = drier month.
  15. The fact is, all large cities have problems if for no other reason more people=more problems.
  16. Found this Eps weeklies September precip forecast in the MA forum. Suggests to me that most tropical activity stays offshore.
  17. Sam's club pretzels are only a buck, and they cook them fresh all day too. I can't remember Wawa'a price, but they're usually more convenient than Sam's, except here. We have a Sam's club in Hanover but no Wawa. When I go back to my old digs near BWI, the 7-11 on Aviation Blvd. (road that borders the east side of BWI) has started selling pretzels similar to Wawa's, so I usually make a point to pickup one there.
  18. They have the best soft pretzels of all the convenience stores. Sam's Club has the best of all, hands down, imho.
  19. Lower again this week. Now, upper 40's! Tuesday Sunny, with a high near 71. Northwest wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Tuesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 49. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Wednesday Sunny, with a high near 73. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Wednesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 51.
  20. Huge fail by all modeling thru this evening with rainfall forecasts imby as recently as 12 hours ago, except for the 3K Nam which has been stingy since last night.
