I like it cool too, but live with warmer temps so I can maintain a lower bill...$112 this month. Winter I keep days at 67/68 and nights at 64/65.

Wow...I'm surprised to hear that. My house has slowly crept down, with no heat or a/c, from 72 on Saturday morning on the 1sr floor to 70 on the first and 71 on the 2nd now.

Anybody turn on their heat yet? I haven't, but just wondering.

Nice discussion. Fwiw, the daily Cfs2 has been slowly morphed toward a Cansips look. The Cfs2 site, which I believe can be trusted more than Cfs2 maps from other vendors but does not provide 500mb maps, has slowly brought colder air into the northern tier and southeast resulting in normal temps for the Dec-Feb period from DCA on north. Glad you're feeling better. I come from a family of dentists. My only fear of dentists stems from childhood when my father knew I couldn't talk back with a drill in my mouth so he took the opportunity to remind me of my "shortcomings." I can't begin to tell you how much that hurt.

The only opposite correlation (as far as anybody in this thread has shown) to a + or - NAO winter to fall months is with October per Chuck's research. However, even that opposite correlation is weak as discussed earlier in this thread.

Assuming this year follows suit, several questions remain that can't be measured by those stats: 1) whether it will be a constant solid +NAO or will it be up and down that averages +NAO allowing for transient -NAO periods/opportunities; and 2) how positive if positive.
