It looks like the snow in the D.C. area is not a hard thumping but more of a moderate snow. The temperatures are steady and some even dropped a bit when the snow started. Most temps. in the very low 20s to about 24 in D.C.

Glad your starting the new thread. When you started the thread for tonights storm, I was thinking it might be a little premature but you were spot on as far as I am concerned.

8 degrees here. Saranac Lake is -27 degrees. If we had a snow pack in the area, we might have dropped another 5 degrees or so.

The area from Buffalo thru Rochester over toward Syracuse may get about a foot and a half of snow and it won't be Lake Affect.

If it becomes clear and the wind dies down, this could be the coldest night of the season in many suburbs.

10 degrees here, Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks is -22.

I think any watches or advisories or warnings for this storm may not come up till tomorrow. The reason is there is to much going on beforehand with the cold.

They were saying 1-3 for NYC and that was the early call that could change one way or the other.

Temperature starting to drop, 39. Wind picking up gusting to 30.

I don't find when strong winds are expected that we get very little or calm winds. I do know that the extreme wind gusts that are forecast, generally occur at airports or right on the coast, exposed locations. Of course that makes sense.

Becoming overcast here from that big ocean storm. Nantucket expecting rain to snow tonight with winds gusting to near 60-70mph. North wind picking up here.

Where I am, I am expecting the winds to be the biggest factor in this storm.

I guess one big question is how hard does it snow at the onset. If you are in an area that has even 3 hours of snow, is it possible you could get a quick 3-5 inches.

If you compare NYC to Catskills and Syracuse it is a lousy place for snow. Compare it to Ocean City Md. or Cape May N.J. and it isn't so bad. Depends on perspective and if you like snow or not.

Interesting that the GFS went more east this morning. Went from near Philly to near Atlantic City, just what lee Goldberg was mentioning yesterday. Not saying it will happen or giving him credit because it has not happened, just saying.

Sounds good but I figure he might want to be in civilization with some motels.

D.C. area got screwed so many times when we were getting double digit snows over the past 15 years, they are due.

Yes but says those numbers could change and be higher at the coast.

Lee Goldberg still thinks the path will be adjusted more southeast and could give significant snow even at the coast. It looks to me the path of the GFS is a little strange with the north and then east and then north. I think you can straighten that path out and bring it closer to the coast.
