Thundering here for past hour or two, only .10 inch of rain.

Was in northern Europe this weekend and had one of the most powerful storms I have seen in a while. It was equivalent to our Nor'easter. Barometric pressure below 29.00 inches and heavy rain with wind gusts between 40 and 70mph for hours. Numerous trees and branches down and numerous power outages.

2.87 inches of rain here.

14 days here of 90 plus.

Looked threatening but basically a thundershower here, .20 inch of rain, 26mph wind gust.

That extreme heat was brutal, thank goodness we had so many near or even below normal days between those heat waves. I think it was the first time I had 2 consecutive above 100 degree days. After all that heat most places should end up with a near normal temperature in July, would not have expected that.

Nice sleeping weather for late July. 59 here this morning but near 50 and even some 40s north and west.
-
Considering those 100 degree days, it is a little surprising the month may end up near normal.

A few days ago this system was predicted to go east across Florida and impact the southeast. Quite a change

I suppose we were due for this. Over the past 50 or 60 years precipitation has increased quite a bit. That 46 inches in 2024 would have been above normal some 50 years ago.

At Jones Beach today. Had to get to the boardwalk to get any real relieve. Car thermometer close to 100 in the parking lot.

Still a very hot 93 degrees at Newark. Incredible how the heat can just linger in that area.

At Massapequa Park tonight for fireworks, you would never know there was a heatwave, very comfortable night.

89.8 my high yesterday and 89.9 today, .40 inch of rain last night with a thunderstorm here, much needed.
