I know it is wishful thinking, but if that storm passing to our Southeast gets close enough with heavy enough precipitation and some chilly air in place, maybe it could snow.
-
Got up to 58 here, now down to 57
-
In a normal winter Long Island would probably get some snow Sunday. The storm is off the coast.
-
Big range in temperatures this morning across small distances. Central Park 60 and Newark 51. Poughkeepsie low 30s and some places a short distance away in the 40s. 52 degrees here after getting up to 54 during the night.
-
Maybe a glimmer of hope for a pattern change to sustained cold, in about 2 weeks. If it happens, it will be the time of year when I am normally looking forward to spring.
-
Heat island in full force this morning. Currently 44 in NYC and 28 here and most suburbs upper 20s to about 30.
-
Something to watch, at least for now.
-
Still seems to be 2 to 10 below in much of the area around Ottawa
-
A little radiational cooling sending temperatures in the cold inland areas, well down into the teens and even some single digits, before the mild air moves in.
-
So far this month my average is a high of 33.4 and a low of 14.4. That is an average of 23.9 I should take a picture before those wintry temperatures turn much more mild.
-
The worst of the cold was just a little northeast of our area. Some of the temperatures on the coast to our north and east are really as low as I can remember seeing. Below zero at coastal locations on Cape Cod, Nantucket, eastern Ct. and Rhode Island. Zero at Montauk, -9 in Boston.
-
Exactly, I am now in a lull.

Wind seems to be getting worse, gusting to 37mph now
-
11 degrees here
-
Mine is 33 feet in the air and it still gets affected by trees with a NW wind. My peak gust is 33mph. `I also have a vantage vue that is only 6 feet in the air and that has a peak gust of only 20mph.

The -106 is the lowest wind chill ever reported in the United States including Alaska.
-
The current wind chill of -106, is the lowest ever recorded in at least the lower 48 states.
-
There are reports in Maine of trees exploding. Apparently water in the trees is freezing and I guess expanding which is causing trees to snap.
-
Current wind chill on Mt. Washington is -103, breaking the record as the lowest wind chill ever recorded at the summit
-
This amazes me and for anyone interested. Currently on Mt. Washington Temperature -40 degrees and the wind is 100mph. The humidity is 79% with freezing fog.
-
Dipping into the very high teens here as the temperature continues to fall.
-
Current temperature in Saranac Lake NY -17 degrees.
-
Mt. Washington is going beyond extreme: Currently -35 degrees Wind sustained at 97mph and gusting to 110mph. Wind Chill -91 degrees

Unfortunately the news seems to be more about hype than honesty, at times.
