  1. As I mentioned yesterday, Suffolk has a freeze warning and nothing in Nassau. This seems to happen every year with the first freeze or frost. We will probably have a freeze tonight in parts of Nassau .
  2. Temperature has dropped almost 4 degrees in the past few hours. Now 39.8 with light rain and gusty winds.
  3. NYC won't hit 32 until a cold enough, windy air mass moves in. Meanwhile surrounding areas will reach freezing on nights like tonight with no wind and radiational cooling.
  4. Could be some record low high temperatures today in parts of our area.
  5. Probably tomorrow night a freeze watch will be issued for Suffolk and not Nassau, even though the rural areas of Nassau will be just as cold as Suffolk. This happens every year.
  6. Seems as though NYC sometimes gets its first snow before the first freeze. The city misses out on those good radiational cooling nights.
  7. 45 here and down a few degrees in the past few hours. Freeze watch up right at the coast from Maryland to New Jersey but nothing north of there.
  8. Only made it to 62 here, now 55.
  9. 60 here, may try for 70 if the clouds go away.
  10. Took longer than normal for the first freeze in Caribou but it looks like the end of October will end with about 4 inches of snow
  11. I think the difference between Newark and LaGuardia is Newark at least cools off a little better at night.
  12. 47 here this morning. 55 LaGuardia.
  13. Heat island in full affect this morning. 39 my low.
  14. 60 degree high here today. Would not be surprised to see patchy frost in cooler rural areas of Long Island.
  15. 1.05 total rain for this event.
  16. .45 inch of rain from first part of the event, more today.
  17. Early next week could bring first frost and or freeze of the season for some in our area.
  18. 45 this morning. Looks like rain Saturday, wind Sunday. Early next week probably coldest temperature of the season for some and mild at the end of the week.
  19. Nice day, 62 degree high.
  20. Hurricane Hazel passing well west of our area gave some in our area the highest wind speeds recorded, including NYC. That period from the mid 1950s to the early 1960s is arguably the worst hurricane time in this area.
