  1. Years ago this would have been a very quiet season and way lower in the alphabet with named storms. Now with better technology and naming subtropical storms, we go thru the alphabet a lot faster.
  2. Franklin is the only one that looks worthy enough to have a name.
  3. After Monday looks like September weather.
  4. 59 degrees here this morning. Looks like another week coming up, of very comfortable temperatures.
  5. 79-62 today, not bad for mid August.
  6. 62 here last night, felt good.
  7. I know this discussion has been made before. I agree it's the 14th highest temperature. I also think when it comes to ranking it still is the 24th highest year. Not really that important, it was a better summer than many recently but just pretty much normal temperature wise.
  8. 24th warmest summer by year.
  9. 1.04 inches of rain here last night.
  10. .75 here overnight and 1.41 between yesterday and today.
  11. First half of August slightly below normal for most of the area and the coming week looks similar.
  12. My peak gust was 26mph. Seems like the big thing with last night storms was the thunder and lightning. Heavy rain that moved thru fairly quickly and some gusty winds but not anything to severe.
  13. Looks like coming week will have near normal temperatures, maybe slightly above.
  14. .56 inch of rain last night as the storm went thru.
  15. Down to 65 here last night. Thru the first 1/3 of August, the area is averaging 1-3 degrees below normal.
  16. .35 inch of rain here, 82 high
  17. So far August at Bridgeport, Islip, Kennedy, La Guardia, Newark and Central Park, temperatures are a high of -1.7 at Newark to a low of -3.5 at LaGuardia.
  18. Great westerly breeze today, 81 degree high.
  19. Strong southerly breeze all day put a lid on thunderstorm chances here. Have picked up about 2/3 of an inch on the day.
  20. .44 here this morning.
  21. Long Island is so over due for a direct hit, almost 40 years since the last hurricane hit the Island directly.
  22. Upper 50s again last night. Can't ask for better night time temperatures, considering it is the hottest time of the year.
