    the clipper is sketch, but looks like a vigorous southern vort on the gfs. hopefully the other models come on board. kind of difficult to buy in yet.

    gonna need to deal with precip chasing cold for the late weekend system (which i think we actually do better here), assuming it's not a slider...we'll see what the gfs paints.

    the advertised temp drop on the gfs from 6z to 12z is suspect. even if the surface temps drop like that, the mid levels are not ideal. i think we want that trailing wave friday to take its sweet time getting itself together for this to work out.

    that temp drop is legit on the gfs. looks like it drops at least 10 degrees in 6 hours overnight thursday. seems like it's overdone, but it is a strong high, so who knows.

    yea, still needs work, but there's cold air in place (though how long it stays in place is tbd).

    the wizards are actually even more annoying. their brand doesn't even reference a wizard anymore. that's an org that truly needs a rebrand imo...and not just changing the name (i think the name is fine), but they gotta get away from being the bullets 2.0.

    lol, they need a qb. i actually like heinicke simply because he can scramble, unlike almost every other qb we've had, but some of these other starting qb's around the league are lasers. burrow/stafford...they're in the super bowl for a reason.

    i was in hs at the time as well...it looked like siberia outside. they can be cool minus the power outages. i'm mostly just blowing smoke in regards to tracking, but i'm ready for a forum wide snowstorm that doesn't include sharp gradients.

    having the 540 line in toronto probably doesn't help with the mid levels, but it's also an overrunning event as opposed to a wound up storm. seems like this could work, but may want a little separation between waves to allow the cold air to settle in.

    i'm on the ropes, too. commanders is suspect. it flows fine, but it sounds very corporate. i would have taken the blue heron over that. some think it will be the red hogs because they chose groundhog day for the event...which is probably better, but i would have preferred just plain hogs.

    you weren't kidding. it was tempting to contribute, but wisdom got the best of me lol. these discussions often times just end up going down a rabbit hole. fwiw, i'm kind of in the middle when it comes to "topics since early 2020". back to the weather...the late weekend system is kind of doing what i was thinking would be the way to get something to work here and that's have a shortwave right on the heels of a cold shot. 500 looked a bit north, but looks like other opps thereafter. this might be a good week to let the chips fall for thursday, focus on work/life, and regroup for the next phase of tracking.

    looks decent for cad, though, but we're gonna need a vort hot on its tail to get something to work. i don't know enough to say, but i imagine the lack of blocking is why the last storm formed way the heck out in the atlantic instead of reforming closer to the coast or even inland.

    Looks like the gfs, euro, and Canadian all have waves behind the late week system. That’s about all I can say lol. Just need to see how they behave with the southern stream energy out west.

    i think that's actually a fair analogy and a good one. however, there's a difference between saying (or assuming) a game is over after a pick 6 when there's still enough time and understanding that there may still be enough time. it's the difference between getting too high or low on something you can't control.

    think in terms of probabilities. the point bob is trying to get through to you is that much like in sports, there is no formula to predict 100% what the outcome will be, but a lot of people still watch sports. if your team is in the hunt for the playoffs (ns and ss potential phase), you'll want to track them more so than if they're 10 games under 500 (clipper-driven miller B), but if you love your team and/or the sport enough you'll track them no matter what (weather junkies).

    Looks like the low is down to 980, cranking out in the Atlantic right now. Around a foot of snow in OC. Well done, eastern shore…well done.

    latest nam did kind of shift a little east. still solid for the coast though. edit: on second thought, pretty negligible.
