  10. Big outlets of MS mall in path of latest Jackson tornado warning near Pearl
  11. Confirmed tornado with that warning as well.
  12. Maybe a tornado emergency will be issued soon if this continues on the ground. SE side of Jackson metro heads up. I wasn't expecting this many confirmed tornadoes in Mississippi today.
  13. The last time I remember a good t storm here in Griffith was when I lost power during the Aug. 10 derecho as it passed through the area. We do have a good east/west line of storms across central IL just to the south of us at the moment.
  14. We can always go and read web pages dealing with 4/27/11 for a needed fix.
  15. Had some graupel for a time this morning with the rain and snow here in my part of Griffith.
  16. The beautiful bradford pear trees blooming throughout the Calumet area are lovely but have shallow root systems and branches break off easily. If this forecast holds true we may see a lot of damage with the weight of the snow. Hope not.
  17. Surprising comment in the Chicago AFD this Friday evening for Saturday in our region..... Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville, IL 649 PM CDT Fri Apr 9 2021 .SHORT TERM... 310 PM CDT Tonight through Sunday... [Tonight through Saturday Night] Main Highlights: * Potential for patchy fog overnight tonight near and north of I-80, some of which may be dense, particularly far northern IL * A period of steady and at times heavy rain for the entire area during the day on Saturday * Chance for isolated to widely scattered embedded low-topped thunderstorms toward mid day through Saturday afternoon * Approximately 4-6 hour window mid day Saturday through the mid to possibly late afternoon with a lower end (low confidence, low coverage) surface based strong-severe risk. Potential exists for low-topped supercells in the warm sector lifting north with a warm front, with a brief tornado and damaging wind threat.
  18. 2000z outlook adds a 10% hatched tor value for se MS probably for overnight. More immediate concern is svr storm watch for central and north MS with strong straight line winds noted in se Arkansas.
  19. Here is a personal anecdote. I have no usable hearing in my left ear and a serious loss partially corrected by a hearing aid in my right ear. As best as it could be determined this happened as the result of my getting measles as a youngster in the pre measles, mumps, rubella vaccine days of the 1950's. I wish the vaccine had been developed by that time. It troubles me that so many people are making this a political statement in one way or another. I value science. I also know why some African Americans are hesitant to get the vaccine due to prior legitimate governmental horror stories in the historical record. I just wish we can work to urge people to take the vaccine not only for themselves but for the common good of the country so we can get back to some semblance of normalcy to address the concerns of many regarding employment, schools, etc.
  20. Saw two great cg's off to the west while in Munster this mid morning....with sonic boom like thunder. Very little rain though.
  21. Individual self interest and freedom must also be accompanied by concern for the greater good of the larger community. Without this you have anarchy. It's always a balancing act.
  22. New meso discussion indicates tor watch coming for northern and central MS
  23. Does seem to be cycling....new warning has radar indicated rotation.
