  1. Solstice √ Excessive Heat Watch √ Winter 2024-25 Discussion/Speculation √
  2. Oh man. There's been a bird singing, almost hysterically, all day long, every day, very close to my house. It's a tiny house so it's inescapable. People hear it on work calls if a window is open lol. I'm not super versed in bird calls but know many common ones and have been having a tough time. Closest thing sometimes is a cardinal. I also thought I had more than one Close Loud Bird. But, as some of you have already guessed...the culprit is....a mockingbird! All day, every day. Going strong right now. This one is a legit opera singer. So many sounds and songs, it is wild. I'm impressed. And I'm slowly going insane.
  3. Definite coffee on porch morning today. Low 54. Soon it will be soup in the morning..
  4. Nice fall day up here, deep overcast
  5. Nice! You've had a string of great sky shots.
  6. Appears to be a little iridescence in some of these high clouds
  7. more on that in the 9:59 a.m. update .NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... No major changes to the previous forecast. Have worked with SPC to see if a Slight Risk is warranted for portions of the area east of I-95. Will continue to evaluate the 12Z guidance to collaborate any risk updates with the 1630Z outlook. Previous discussion follows...

  11. I think (she) was looking for a spot to lay eggs, but was getting too much attention from a curious crowd of black vultures (I'm not dead yet!) and there was even a fox looking on! Back to the water...

  14. April 8th Eclipse- Least Easy One To See In My Lifetime
  15. Those are both good suggestions for seed mix sources. I grow flowering native perennials but have never tried a seed mix scatter/meadow approach over a large area. Has anyone? Let us know how it goes if you try it?
  16. I just started a bunch of flower seeds for my annuals pollinator patch. Tithonia (Mexican Sunflower) which I HIGHly rec for anyone who wants to see a lot of butterflies and hummingbirds ..also zinnias (same) which I'm kinda obsessed with and started 10 types. Some cosmos. Also genovese basil, persian basil, flat parsley, dill. I may pop in some cucumbers but they usually break my heart all too soon, aaaaand I'm skipping tomatoes/other again this year.
  17. Got you, thanks for the additional info. Good luck with all the logistics!
  18. I'm not chasing the eclipse but I'm living vicariously through a friend who is wrapping the eclipse into a two week trip to Mexico. Looking pretty good for her.
  19. EJ, just curious are there plans to put stations in Harford, AA, Calvert, and Cecil? I am guessing so as the map says 52 (!) additional sites planned. Great project, thumbs up.
