  1. The moonlight was so bright! I looked out at one point during the night and the moon looked almost ice-frosted, blurry, cirrus I assume, but still SO bright. It was almost creepy but pretty.
  2. I've had the same bad decade you have. Terrible. Last year/two I got jealous of DC, AA Co...jfc even BWI. So I feel part of this take. But - and clearly ymmv - this last event I measured majority snow and in my subjective limited human faculties, I shoveled majority snow. Looking out now at a blanket of white. Duration and qpf are valid things to note. It's just...the conversation was not just about data...and this storm was the best in ages for mby. I made friends with it. People are allowed to crap on it though! I hope we get the powder storm of our dreams...I will take another sleet bomb if need be. Edit: not paying any attention to Charlotte or anywhere it is snowing rn. probably helping me out
  3. Hey everyone's entitled to have their critiques of a storm. I prefer 100% pure cold powder of course. We all do. But I just can't perceive this storm as majority sleet. (I also happen to believe we were super lucky to get a hit, when we did/at all). We're all different. Imma enjoy the view of qpf outside my window
  4. Oops! Have been watching this and am interested to see what significant blowout conditions might look like with all this ice (piers in my pics are not my own ha).
  5. So did you live in a bunch of places in Minnesota before you lived in a bunch of places in Virginia?
  6. All right, another random positive thought about this glaciated concrete snowpack...it is really...tidy. Well behaved. I'm not tracking anything inside. No mud, no melting snow globs, no puddles. Life on an ice planet. Birds and squirrels really busy today eating anything they can, which is mostly berries it seems. And seeds. I encourage everyone who has flower beds to not clean them all out in fall, to leave the seed heads standing for food. You will have visitors. Also future butterflies and moths are wintering under there. #TeamMess
  7. Sneakily replying to this here . Ice looking good! Turkey Pt and that whole peninsula is one of my favorite spots around NE MD. Just was out for maybe an hour trying to take some pics. So cold for fingers!!! Will look through later but I was being quick so idk lol.
  8. WxUSAF needs to come back and rescue his storm
  9. Haha. I get both points of view. Raging appetite for more! But also..can't be mega depressed right now because *waves in direction of glistening bulletproof snowpack*
  10. It was on land/the snowpack. Sorry if my post was confusing. However! I have seen a fox or two explore out on the river ice in the past as well. Rarely. It could be they were going after the smell of fish remains or something from eagles, for food (?) but this would usually be when there is some melting, even a little. This reminds me to watch out there though!
  11. Can vouch for that northern western shore fast ice. Ob...a fox trotting across the glacier's surface as the sun sets. Very wintry!
  12. F it, I'll hang on to track a slight chance of a tiny pack refresher. I feel emotionally strong enough at this time.
  13. I'm in the light blue and I'm ready to abscond with this. Run away. Elope. Tell the families later.
  14. That's right. In part it's where we live. The land of the possible but not probable. Iykwim. Intermittent rewards. Tailor made for both addiction and torment. Lol
  15. If you have a chance - how are streets in Columbia doing?
  16. In order to model good pbp manners for all the new and infrequent posters
