  1. Same here in Manhattan now (UWS). Whether it's sleet or not, flakes were bouncing off my coat now.
  2. Me too (Pats fan here) but I have to imagine they would have been forced to postpone. Sending 65K people out into the heavy snow at 7 PM tonight up there would have been a disaster.
  3. Back from a Jebwalk in Riverside. Hard to get a good measurement but was convinced we were at 6” but measured 7” about 10 minutes later in another spot.
  4. Glorious out. This was about 30 minutes ago
  5. Flakes are getting bigger, heavier here on UWS.
  6. On my walk just now I’d say we safely crossed 3” of champagne powder on the UWS. Picking up. 1/4 vis.
  7. Man, that escalated quickly. Enjoy guys. what a day to be in SNE...
  8. Find someone to love and hold on to it like the UKMET and that weird snow hole over NYC.
  9. The NAM is the Aaron Rodgers of models Clearly ready for the exit Was always flawed but racked up some big wins in its career Problematic in ways that distract from its strengths (but fans like it for being "contrarian") People vigorously rooting for it to lose Still capable of some key plays that make it impossible to write off
  10. He must have meant 2” LE / hr at 15:1, which would be 30”/hr and indeed pile up very quickly.
  11. Just your average 960 low moving from s of LI to Cape Cod...
  12. Winter Storm Warning issued January 23 at 1:12PM EST until January 26 at 6:00PM EST by NWS Upton NY Description * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 10 and 14 inches. Isolated wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph are possible for eastern long Island. * WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York. * WHEN...From 3 AM Sunday to 6 PM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. What You Should Do Persons should consider delaying travel from Sunday into Monday. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded. Affected Areas Eastern Passaic; Hudson; Western Bergen; Eastern Bergen; Western Essex; Eastern Essex; Western Union; Eastern Union; Southern Westchester; New York (Manhattan); Bronx; Richmond (Staten Is.); Kings (Brooklyn); Northwest Suffolk; Northeast Suffolk; Southwest Suffolk; Southeast Suffolk; Northern Queens; Northern Nassau; Southern Queens; Southern Nassau
  13. Strong coordination there between OKX and Mt. Holly.
  14. Perhaps because the storm is still almost 72 hours away?
  15. Welcome. I'm on the West side near the river. I suggest we average our measurements for a NYC total as we do tend to be a tad colder over here than the East side.
  16. I think Don and Forky both buying is the new EE rule (if you know, you know).
  17. In case anyone isn't reading closely - that is only through 7 AM Sunday...
  18. I swear to god in the 80s in Mass every single storm (and there weren’t many) ended with a crusty glaze on top. It was fun to punch through it.
  19. We've also seen this play before. Most all of our biggest storms were "south" at this point in the model runs. Not a guarantee it will come north, but it's kind of like having, say, Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes down 5 entering the 4th quarter.
  20. 2003 was traumatic for me (in Boston). We planned a PD weekend getaway to Montreal area and I tracked the huge mid-atlantic storm for a week sad I was going to miss the 6-12" fringe targeting SNE. It was only Friday when it became apparent what was going to happen. You know the rest. We sat in Quebec under -20 temps while Boston broke the '78 snowfall record.
