  1. Nomad/Flatiron about to get lit up. Booming thunder with lightning.
  2. Aw man I’ve forgotten what it’s like to watch storms fall apart as they approach Boston.
  3. Still on the Colonnade roof. Turned out to be a great afternoon. Occasional clouds are welcome since I don’t have sunscreen. Widowmaker Blue Comet in hand.
  4. Greatings from Back Bay. Hanging on the rooftop of the Colonnade Hotel under the overcast. Not looking like a great pool day.
  5. Saw the Mish news today. So sad. Always loved her through the 00’s and my days in Boston. RIP.
  6. ok, that 1.6" at KNYC is ridiculous. I was eyeballing a solid 3" + on surfaces around UWS/Riverside Park between 12 and 1.
  7. It's like walking in a salt desert here on the UWS. A dusty haze clouds the sun and leaves your lips salty.
  8. I walked around the quad of a very famous college on the West side late this afternoon - and if those nearly dry, spotless sidewalks are your handiwork, then a tip of the hat to you, good sir... I also walked in some fresh powder in sheltered areas of Riverside... and I'm more open to the idea that it could have been 9-10"
  9. Appreciate the ground truth, but I'd counter by saying that in about 2 hours of walking in Riverside and Central Park I never felt the snow was threatening to top my 8" bean boots. Maybe there was enough compaction... I agree on the impact - it's a colder, denser snow... I think the LE is what always drives that (memories of the 2007 storms in Boston that formed immovable glaciers).
  10. Exactly. I'm dumbfounded by people who are not in and around Manhattan gaslighting and saying it had to be 10" or more. It is powder, but a silky, denser powder. The kind you slip and slide on, nut crunching underneath foot. Is there anyone in Manhattan who can provide ground truth that there was more?
  11. Yeah, but we never had good dendrites. Never good snow growth. Never had heavy snow. It’s that very silky, dense powder, so I think 10:1 won the day.
  12. So, were you in Manhattan to measure? I’m not trying to be argumentative, but there was a clear and well forecasted tight gradient from the city out to Long Island.
  13. That was my estimate based on walking in it for 90 minutes before I even saw the official measurement a little while ago.
  14. Disagree. I walked all over the park and it was a 8-9” storm.
  15. What a storm. Wish I were there. 8.3” here in NYC in the park. No complaints.
  16. Just did a glorious 3 mile Jebwalk through Central Park. Probably approaching 8" on the ground. Go out and appreciate whatever snow you got.
  17. From about 9 AM. Riverside Park Looking across the Hudson. Henry Hudson moving fine nice wind tunnel
  18. Just in from a Jebwalk. Probably 5-6” of champagne powder OTG in Riverside Park. Est .5 visibility. Pics shortly
  19. I just put my contacts in and visibility is better than I thought
  20. C’mon… c’mon… come to daddy… animation was too big to post, but better returns are just backing into Manhattan now.
  21. Morning from the UWS. As well modeled, the better band backs up to queens and stops. Nevertheless, still appears to be about 1/2m vis in small flakes. Looks lovely out
