  1. I'm hugging the NAM. I want 3-5" of sleet. I love love love those kinds of storms. When I first moved here in 2016, a year later, 2017, was my favorite winter storm. 3" of sleet. People here know how to deal with snow mostly but sleet, no. It was hilarious because I suddenly felt like everyone was in my boat, a newbie. People treated it like snow, it looked like snow, covered everything, but it was not snow. The plows came and created these sleet mountains that looked like snow. People tried to back over them with their cars, and it didn't compact down, because it was pure ice. It was chaos in the most hilarious way, car tires sticking up in the air as the cars got stuck on those little snow banks created by the plows. It stayed for SO long, melted so slowly. I absolutely loved it. and that was 3". Nam is showing 4-5" of sleet now. That is exciting to me.
  2. You know, I would TOTALLY take the NAM. My favorite storm since moving here was actually the 3" sleet bomb we got in, what was it, 2017? 3" of sleet is unreal. That ice pack stayed for DAYS. It was hilarious watching people try to back out over it as if it were snow after the plows moved and cars literally go stuck with tires in the air because it didn't pack down.
  3. 32 and absolutely pouring rain in Germantown.
  4. One thing I do like, even though I had virtually no accretion except for on cars (lots on cars), Is that it is keeping my white snow pack sticking around even longer now.
  5. Honestly lol. Today made me realize that even with 27 degree temperatures and a light rain, we still suck at winter. 0 accretion on trees and leaves in Germantown. I had PUDDLES! At 27 degrees! lol.
  6. Actually getting real accretion now in Germantown.
  7. Pouring sleet now. It's 27 degrees outside but puddles are forming. I don't understand weather sometimes.
  8. Mostly ZR in Germantown and it's acreting. Some sleet mixed in. I'll take some pics later. Fine ice glaze one everything, especially the car.
  9. Its weird. I hear that y'all have sleet south of me, but in Germantown, there are no pingers at all. It's straight freezing rain and it seems to be acreting very well.
  10. Just checked. It's actually pretty solid freezing rain in Germantown now. And it's 28 degrees and freezing instantly. Back deck is already icy.
  11. Looks like we're getting some form of icy precip in Germantown now. Not sure if it's sleet or ZR but the top of my car looks like it's icing, looking from the window.
  12. High and dry in Germantown. It would be cool to get in on the ZR action but the NAM just isn't having it.
  13. Its funny, after how badly the Euro whiffed the last 3 storms, even day of, I haven't even looked at the Euro and have only looked at the NAM, figuring I wasn't getting anything. Radar looks pretty close to me in Germantown though.
  14. Just curious - when did the NAM suddenly become Mr No? This season the NAM has been all about dashing hopes, and it's for the most part been right. Lately it feels like the NAM and the Euro have switched places lol, with the Euro giving us these mega events 36 hours out and the NAM saying "naaa"
  15. Me too - an inch of snow would keep the nice white wonderland I've got outside going.
  16. I’m mobile. How many inches for MoCo?
  17. You know, even though we haven’t had any big hits and have had to fight for every inch, this winter has been pretty good in my back yard for keeping snowcover on the ground. There is still some ice that hasn’t melted from the Jan 30 storm, and the ground is still entirely covered in snow here.
  18. Yup. I am now, after this season, a 100% NAM believer.
  19. You always seem to bust high, you must have a good microclimate. I do too but this year hasn’t been my year.
  20. I measured. 2” even in Germantown. It looks pretty though. It looks like yet again, 3rd snow in a row, the NAM will have it nailed for me.
  21. Snowing again in Germantown. I’m gonna get out there and measure.
  22. From the looks of it, 2-3” on the ground here in Germantown. I’ll measure when I find my way outside. Not bad. Everything is white.
  23. I got 3 inches of sleet my first or second year here - 2017ish? That was one of the most memorable storms I’ve ever been in. a car tried backing over it like it was snow and got stuck lol.
  24. Approaching 1" in Germantown and everything has caved. Roads and sidewalks are ice. It's like, 75% graupel/rime, 25% snow flakes. Definitely an interesting mix.
  25. I have a solid half inch of sleet already in Germantown. It's coming down pretty heavily.
